Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

Wow.... Hopefully Yamaha will turn this ship around and get it pointed in the right direction. They have a very good brand name and I just don't see them jeopardizing that over a shoddy product. With Yamaha in control that's the only reason I jumped in and ordered the Rock Bass combo as the reviews started coming in. I'm using the combo for home practice and a snatch and go for rehearsals. I have other gear gigs. Time will tell if I jumped the gun.
Yamaha is known to be pretty tight in the QC department. They have a great reputation for quality in all of their myriad of product lines. And I'm betting they have the awareness to not mess with an ICONIC brand name like Ampeg. I feel a 'rumble' coming on as we speak with chains and knives . . . . ;)

I wouldn't assume the new combos will inherit the problems you had with your cab. A big part of development is moving forward with improvements in design, quality, etc... It's cheaper that way. But I get that you would be skeptical.
I must say I have greatly enjoyed my PF210 cab and have it paired with the PF20T tube head. Its a great combination of sweet tube tone with reasonable weight and superb build quality. Once in awhile a 'lemon' will squeeze past the system :)

I've been reviewing the specs of the RB112 and larger in the owner's manual -- can someone support the value of having the Ultra Low switch boosting/cutting frequencies that exactly match those frequencies that could be boosted/cut using the mid and bass EQ knobs?
A different style of execution, maybe different EQ curves with the same centers? I wouldn't know...I never touch the ultra-lo. Once in a while I may hit the ultra-hi if I'm playing a Poison song :D

I don’t know, Jimmy. Boosts 40hz and cuts 500hz, which is just what using the knobs would do. Yeah, different execution: pushing a button vs turning a pot.

Well if that's your ideal sound, you'd have two ways to get it instead of one. For me it's about as far from ideal as it gets, so I don't concern myself with such things.

If I'm driving for more than three hours I'm either in another country or in the sea getting wet

(Edit: The Netherlands is about twice the size of New Jersey)
Haha yeah! That’s one thing we Californians (and other Western Americans) can boast. We can drive for 8-10 hours and still be in the same state.

I’m originally from the Philippines, where I assume (disregarding traffic) an 8-10 hour drive can take me to the next major island group. Haha!

Here's a demo of the RB-110 from Italy. No talking, just playing and tweaking.

I really like the sounds coming out of that combo. I have cabs (EA Wizzy 12 M-Line and NL-210), so which standalone heads or preamp pedals can nail these sounds? I might not be averse to selling one or both of my B-100Rs (they are heavy).

Yes sir, I'm hoping Yamaha will jump on the quality control aspect of Ampeg with both feet! :)

(My PF woes all happened when Ampeg was under Loud's managment.)
