I was thinking with the new RB combos out these things were $150 to $200 now.

I still use the B200R as a speaker cabinet after the head got fussy, using a PF 350 and 50T with it as a home practice amp. Sounds great. The B100r has a good rep so these are a little pricey relatively -- the B200r is historically plagued with build issues, and while it sounds great it's not really worth getting. I'm actually on my second: brought #1 new around 2007 and LOVED it until it started rattling after 6 months of use (typical of these poorly built amps, which are both delicate and HEAVY -- killer combination!). Bought #2 here at TB about a year or so ago out of pure wishful nostalgia -- it seemed nearly new and well cared for. Unfortunately the seller did an awful pack job (actually shipped it packed flat on its back!) and predictable damage to the amp's thin metal chassis (on which is mounted a heavy output transformer) took place during shipping. It was really sad. I ended up wedging the amp semi-stable against the cabinet with blocks of wood.
Upshot: go for one of the new ones and get a more reliable, portable amp -- they sound great. I have the 110 and the 112.
I’ll do this as well using my Ashdown Little Bastard head. Similarly, using a 1/4 female-to-female I’ll occasionally run the amp section to power a 2x12 cab. Definitely impractical for any other arrangement other than home/studio on both counts.I still use the B200R as a speaker cabinet after the head got fussy, using a PF 350 and 50T with it as a home practice amp. )Hey! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.Using a PF20T thru the effects loop of the RB112 in the bedroom tonight. Sounds really good!
Happy Thanksgiving RB siblings!
Hey! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
I hate to ask a stupid question but can you explain how you run your PF20 thru the effects loop?
Do you use the PF20 like a pre-amp > power-amp of the RB112?
Apologies in advance for the rookie question.
Recently got the 112 and boy do I looooove it. It’s got such a rich tone. PLENTY loud for a practice amp in my room (I think 11 o’clock’s the most volume I need). Takes all my pedals nicely, too. I’m curious to see how recording a DI goes with it, as opposed to my Quilter BB800.
Congrats- good stuff! Let us know how the recording goes-
.
The question can also be: "Why not?"Part of me wonders why I have a 400w amp when trying to wrangle a band together has been so frustrating and I’m not gigging, but TalkBass is the wrong forum for the question, “Why do I have a 400w amp & cab in my room?” haha.

That’s kind of my thinking, too. I might not *need* it, but do I want to sell it just to buy another rig again at a later date? Nah.
