Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

It was just sarcasm about that saying and bedroom playing, will503.:D

That said, I'm not gigging right now and I've got a 400watt amp. I'm not selling it either, so...
Congrats- good stuff! Let us know how the recording goes-

Oh, yeah, I know :)

DI of the RB sounds pretty good! Tempted to say it sounds better than the BB800, but I don’t know the technical reasons why that’d be.

:nailbiting:Oh hey! Stop whining about having bass equipment!!!!

if it all burned up/flooded/stolen, whatever- it’s just “stuff”:woot:- can always get another usable bass and rig.:bassist:

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Ampeg Rocket bass amps. I see this as our unofficial “club” now… @iagtrplyr ?? Beuhler???

So trimming up for holidays- muck out my music “corner”. I’m glad to do it- keeps me honest, and that’s where the Tannenbaum lives.

All that cheer meant a new home for the RB-115…this looks promising! Glad I got that spiffy cover!

well…a couple days later, my better half (by far :help:!) looks over at it and says, “When did you get that “speaker”?” Hmmmm. Think quick.

“Oh, that…eariy last summer; You liked it!”

“Hmmph!” :headphone:

Thinking of replacing my old Acoustic B100 for one of these RB Combos. Thinking maybe the 112 is the way to go? I'm just a home player, so far not playing with anyone, though someday I would like to. I'm sure there would be a practice period before any sort of gig which if it ever happens would be way down the road. I never crank my B100 up past maybe 20% volume range.

I guess I should dig through the specs and see what features you gain as you go up to the bigger combos.

If you’re just playing at home any of the RB combos are fine, but you have a good home amp already so maybe think about something a little more for gigs if you think you’ll be heading that direction. Just a thought.

The 112 should do you well, and has XLR balanced out for PA, or board. And an effects loop. Cool!

As my post above reveals, I went RB-115. I was missing my 115 Mesa/Boogie cab I sold a few years back. 10” speakers were, just… I wanted Ampeg tone, so the 15” Eminence speaker seemed a way to do both.

Here it is with my 60s MIM Jazz.

100W into the onboard speaker alone, but you can “expand” if you need and unleash the full 200W with an extension cab. Yay- prob won’t need it, but. It. Would be. A LOT of fun :woot::bassist:

Welcome Aboard!!

Hi all!
I ended up getting 2 rb112’s and use the effects loop to tether the other.
Works great, sounds great and the 2have plenty of volume ( for bigger gigs)
Anyway, I’ve got a awesome sounding 700$ rig
Yay me!
I like this idea and hope it works out well for you! I’m a kid of ‘70s rock, and I’m still turned on by piled-up, mean- looking amplification!!

Part of me wonders why I have a 400w amp when trying to wrangle a band together has been so frustrating and I’m not gigging, but TalkBass is the wrong forum for the question, “Why do I have a 400w amp & cab in my room?” haha.
Yes, why on earth would anyone have a 400w amp and cab in their room?

You need at least 800 watts to practice. Duh

I likely may never play a live gig again in this life, but I still bought a GK Legacy 800 2x12 combo. Because I’m an idiot and I got a Christmas bonus. Luckily the RB212 I subsequently bought to make home practice bearable was pretty affordable!

That sounds a great rig and a great choice-! I’ve been looking at 12” extension to go with RB-115…an RB-112 might be the best idea! :bassist:

68Tele-Bass, I think it's a fantastic idea about a Rocket Bass Club. In fact, you could call it the Rocket Bass Club! Two even better ideas would be to piggyback it off the Combo Club for a larger playing field, AND you, Tele, should be the guy to run this wing of the mothership. You'd be perfect for it because you have plenty of Ampeg to show potential clients. if not you, then it'd have to be Jeezy! I say go for it! :hyper:

PS: if you need more space for bass gear, I'll be happy to take your baby Vox combo off your hands. Say, from one Tele to another

Great Choice with both @JeezyMcNuggles AND the 10W Vox Pathfinder in British Racing Green tolex and Union Jack grille cloth.

Mine was on sale at MF, ($79 Spacebucks) With my “Loyalty Bucks” - I nabbed it for something like $34 Spacebucks- I have 9V mini amps I’ve paid more for! :woot:.

The OD channel is a little “fizzy”- I prefer running an OD pedal, and a reverb pedal chaser to get sweet tones out of this!!!
The OD serves as a bit of a pre-gain- works for me!

Decided to pull the trigger on the RB-112 from Sweetwater. Really excited - this will be my first Ampeg combo and first new amp! I also decided to retire the Acoustic B100 I've been using the last couple of years. It's headed to a local high school that has jazz and modern band programs. The director said they do need another bass amp so I think they will put it to good use.

Not sure when the new amp will arrive with the holiday shipping traffic going on, but I'll report back my thoughts when I get it and have a chance to check it out!

112 is all you need, if you don't want to hook it to another cabinet. That's the only feature it lacks, and it sounds the best out of all of them.

Should be perfect.
