OK, so last time I'm going to say this...Ampeg and Mackie share a CS dept. Most of the CS personnel have a background in pro sound, not bass playing, and that is normal advice given to people buying PA gear, and pro sound people often mistakenly think that all bass players and pro sound people have the same goal...the cleanest sound possible with the least chance of clipping. So in that sense, it's good advice. Should they do a little re-education to the sound people who answer bass amp calls? Probably. But large companies with large CS departments don't always have every single person working CS as perfect as you would like them to be. Hey, you're awesome and perfect, but not everyone is. Welcome to the world.
But I have run my PF head many times with both gain and master over noon, including last night on my gig, and it was fine. A federal case it's not, despite your attempts to keep making it a federal case.
