I'm waiting for the next batch of new 7 Pros to come in then i'll decide if i want to keep one or not.
Mind you, all my other "newish" Ampeg gear came with Yamaha literature. So we shall see.
In the meantime- I'll be getting my workout from my B4-R head! :)

Sweetwater has them now?
I have been looking for months and they say "More On Order". Out Of Stock.
I will go look today.
I've been on the fence between the 3 Pro and 7 Pro.
I like the extra EQ of the 3 pro but have not been able to demo either one for tone and overall VOLUME output.
I would have had a 7Pro by now if they were in stock.
Im going to go check Sweetwater now

Long story VERY short- i found a used 7 Pro locally in immaculate condition.
Then i proceeded to order a new one from Sweetwater.
The new one arrived today... all Yamaha literature, etc. And it sounds brilliant.
I just might rack 'em both up and gig with them tomorrow night...

I have owned the 4 pro for many years and never used the graphic EQ.
But the 3 pro is a great amp. You must push the preamp to get a good tone. That's the way the amp is designed.
Also, I think it needs to be rebiased sometimes.

What I have found with other brand Class D amps is their 800 watt models seem to be equal in output volume as other class AB style amps of 450 watts or so.
I don't know why.
Do they use FTC ratings ?

Again, no one in Vegas has any Ampeg's amps to try or Demo.
From experience, Ampeg seems to be accurate with their ratings. IMO.
So maybe a 450 watt Ampeg 3Pro may be equal in output volume as a 7Pro into the same cab with same Ω rating?
I wonder if the other brand Class D amps actually use FTC ratings when publishing their ratings?
And if they don't use FTC wattage ratings, it may a good thing to implement so the consumer has a more unbiased and equal view of what they are purchasing.

I somewhat understand why Bass amp builders may not use FTC ratings over RMS..
I "think" FTC is continuous to a point and RMS is an 'Averaging" with peaks over time?

A Standardization throughout the bass amp industry may be helpful and honest way to sell watts?
So coming back to the 3Pro vs the 7pro. Is it possible a 3pro non Class D amp be close or equal volume to the 7 Pro ?

Yes.. Ampegs really do seem to be HEFTY.
At least from my experience with the 4 pro, and the PH800.
I was thinking Ampeg vs the other brands of Class D amps that use 3 party modules.
I just wonder if those Modules use FTC ratings? Or some other averaging type of ratings ?

Long-time lurker here. I got an SVT-7 Pro new almost 10 years ago, and the tone and volume I get from this amp are 100% what I have been chasing my entire life. Never been in a band until just recently.

FWIW, I have never experienced the issue with these cutting out. The revision on the box is C00 and the revision of the main board is F. I'm hoping that since I haven't experienced any issues with it up until now, it's good to go - but I'll be pushing it at practice next weekend to see what it can do!

If you are going to rant, you really ought to understand what you are ranting about.

FTC methods do use RMS metrics, but they involve preconditioning periods, address multi-channel applications, and are used almost exclusively for home entertainment products where the audio is dynamic range limited and being reproduced without any overdrive or clipping.

In many cases, these products wouldn’t hold up in a musical instrument amplifier application where the dynamic range and duty cycle is much higher than in home audio.

Hi guys, my 7 pro finally failed me after many many years of reliable performance. I had it on and tested at the club we were playing, left it in mute mode, power on, and went to grab some food. When I came back it had no power at all. I tried a new IEC cable, and I'm going to check the fuse next. I'm trying to guess what could have happened. Possibly the sound guy plugged in his XLR into my DI, with phantom power on? Would that be a potential issue? It wasn't plugged in when I came back, just atop the amp, waiting for me, and the sound guy didn't fess up to killing it, so I'm not really sure. If it's not just the fuse, I plan on taking it to my local Ampeg service center for a fix.

So for the last couple of years I've been running my SVT 4 Pro. My former 7 Pro's all had issues. Is it safe to jump back into the 7Pro water now that Yamaha is in control? Has anyone with a Yamaha version opened it up and looked inside to see any differences besides the upgraded chip? Are they still using Loud technologies motherboards? It's either buy a new 7Pro or a Darkglass Alpha Omega 900 V2 & I really want to trust the Ampeg. Honestly, I wish Yamaha/Ampeg would turn their new SGT-DI into an actual amp that could replace the 7Pro all together,
