So far I've played two gigs with my SVT-7 Pro and it has performed flawlessly and sounds great. Very pleased with it!!

I'm curious though...has anyone here on TB actually reported receiving a Rev. D00 yet? Mine was a new purchase from American Musical Supply but it was still a Rev. C00. I would have guessed AMS moves as much gear as anybody.

I have heard they are actually on Rev E now!! Every time I see one at any music store I'm in I always look to see what revision it is and I've only seen Rev C00's, thus far.

Hey guys, I bought a secondhand SVT7pro from somebody, it blew up on my first time using it and at the moment I'm gathering up information to take to him. I found a sticker on it from an amp repair place he used (the twit) and they found some records of him taking it in busted because he had mistreated it.

When I demoed it at his house it took a second or two after flicking the switch to turn on. It did however sound okay there.

Is that usual for the SVT7 pro or is that just his that it takes a few moments to turn on? Not even the LED came on for the first few seconds?

Sorry, bro.

The delay when turning it on is normal because the tube needs to warm up, so tube amps and hybrids will have a relay that prevents them from coming on until the tube warms up.

I can vouch for that. I just got mine about 3 weeks ago (Rev C00). I tried running my Pod HD Pro in the effects loop with the 4 cable method. It seemed to molest my tone and negate the preamp tone. I guess I'm a borderline idiot when it comes to effects loops, as every head I've owned in the past I've just gone direct in the front with no issues.

So on my 3rd use of the 7 it farted out on me and I lost half power, as I've heard from other threads. I tried two different cabs to verify, and it was shmucked up. Luckily, I am able to exchange it for a new one, which I will use the effects loop exclusively. The tone through that head is devastating and I will suffer through repairs and downtime (if it occurs) because of the amazing sound it produces. I think now through an incredibly sobering trial and error, the problem lies in a very sensitive preamp input and user error... Lesson learned.

All of this leading to question for fellow users: Has anyone run a combination of an 8ohm 4x10 cab paired with a 4ohm 1x15 cab? I am terrified to try this setup considering my novice like attempt at poking cords in jacks turned out in disaster last time, lol. Appreciate any comments or advice.

Even if the head could handle that combination, you'd let the magic smoke out of the 1x15. If you had a head that was 2 ohm stable, the best way to run a 410 and 115 together is to have the 410 at 4 ohm and the 115 at 8 ohm. This way everything gets power it can handle.

So the loop...Ampeg may say to run pedals in the loop but I hate them there. I never use a loop for anything but defeating a preamp in a head, and that only happens at home when I'm messing around. The Pod may have been set for line level and not instrument level and that may have shmucked your sound. Pods can work either or, I guess, but I've yet to ever plug in a pedal in the loop and like it as well as in line.

I tried running my fuzz through there and I hated it, it really "schmucked" up things for me as well.

Just noticed something interesting this evening while rolling preamp tubes on my new SVT-7 Pro. The preamp board is imprinted with REV A__. The main board is imprinted with REV E__.

I understood from past discussions that the cutting out problem was related to the power supply unit rather than the preamp section. Although the sticker on the top of the unit says REV C00, I wonder if Loud is currently shipping REV E.

Back in October 2012, “Hodgy” the Line Lead, Technician for Ampeg/Loud Technologies said in a post, “Rev D00 added snubbers to Q10, Q11, Q12, and Q24. Rev E02 is what is currently in production.”
