Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

That's honestly what scared me away from the 7 Pro. I read a lot of poor reviews online at the various vendors, saying that the amps would often fail and that Ampeg had no fix...

:hiding:

I was once where you are now, I kept hearing about all the negative things and problems that were going on with the SVT 7. Then I did a lot of research and saw that they rectified almost all the problems. Sure there were a few isolated incidents since the latest revisions, but that's gonna happen with any company. I bought a Rec C00 a few months ago and I have purposely tried to get it to cut out and I can't. I have nothing but good things to say about this amp.

This is all great news, thanks so much for the responses. I've pretty much narrowed my rig choices down to the following:

Ampeg SVT-7PRO/SVT-410HLF(or 610HLF)
Ampeg SVT-CL/SVT-410HLF(or 610HLF)
GK Fusion MB800(when it comes out)/Bergantino HD212(or HD410)

Thanks again!

I got mine a month ago and no problems...
I went from a svt4 pro to the svt7 pro... Nice small light package, cool... VERY LOUD... gain structure is very diferent from the svt4 I had, so how react the eq... I have to cut the gain of 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn. And it also has more distortion in the bass... More old school sound to me... I feel it has more low mid and bass in the sound... I'm placed better in the band mix now IMO...

I'm pretty happy so far !!

Good to hear, it's got some nuts!!

The 12th digit from the left should be a letter that corresponds to year of manufacture:

A = 2008
B = 2009
C = 2010

Etc. However, I have seen some newer Ampeg stuff that doesn't follow this trend, and not sure how you'd date them.

Awesome club!
TommydaCat and I have been buddys now for 5 or so years and I remember after I got my 1st 7PRO about 2 or 3yrs ago,I MADE him try it BC he was a 4PRO guy at the time and I truly thought the 7PRO could win him over....He bought one the next week,traded his old 4PRO in at the GC I worked at and hasent looked back!
I actually traded my 1st 7PRO for a GB ST900 to a club member BC I thought maybe the hype was true and the grass was greener...Boy was I truly bummed a week after getting my new GB ST900 and realizing what a mistake I had made,my new GB was muddy and lacked ANY of the TRUE headroom I had in my old 7PRO,I quickly sold the GB and borrowed a couple of different heads to play while my ON ORDER new 7PRO came in,seemed like forever because they were on back order,prolly BC of the demand and maybe BC of the problems with cutting out.
Neither of mine has EVER had ANY issues!!! I even got into some of the early club post on "tube rolling" and tried a bunch of 12AX7s out,still looking for the best! Im running a Gold Lion currently,If you havent tried this tube out,BUY ONE ASAP!!IMO,so fat and warm!! But the Gold Lion 12AX7s tend to go microphonic quickly on me! SUX,BC I love em alot in this amp..
So my 3 questions for you loyal 7PRO guys are,
Whats your favorite,readly available 12Ax7 ,under $50 12AX7,you prefer in 7PRO these days??? (its been awhile since ive posted ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD,sorry)
Im currently using a Spector Euro5LX,18vt USA HAZ and either a SVT810e cab or a Eden XLT4x10 live for large or med gigs. My band GRITTER is a METAL BAND,lol!

AND where are youre mids set on the 5way switch and level knob?
Im either on 1 or 2 style selector,love lots of low mids!
And around 3 o'clock on my mid level or more most gigs.
Lastly,anyone need to go over 11 o"clock with the comp knob during loud practices or gigs without squashing every dynamic going on with your tone?
Thanks in advance,Ill get a pic of my 7PRO ASAP here to get a number if ok?
(sorry so long winded this morning,prolly the coffee!!)

Thanks John, I edited that out almost a half hour before you posted against it. I respect your presence, and I am trying to create a thread about positivity instead of the opposite. If that bothers the Mods, remove me from your site.

I don't post often, I like to gather information from people about gear that have more experience than me without a bunch of people detracting from the topic at hand. I don't need to subscribe to TB to garner this.

I also don't like pretending I'm nice to people who think they are Rambo on a keyboard either, but I am making an honest effort here. Carry on.:D
Awesome quote sir..

My bad guys! I didnt previously post anything earlier in this club,it was the Johnk's, Tube Rolling thread ABOUT the 7pro's comparison to the GB ST900,I feel like such an idiot,my bad!
Anyway,after rebuying another 7pro,REV C model,almost a year ago,I was wondering if I maybe able to grab a NUMBER?
Ill get a pic up of my rig posted with the ONLY head I can say I truly LOVE,the mighty 7PRO posted here ASAP Verminaard!!!
Thx in advance guys!
"Cabs may come and go,but only ONE head stays to make em all sound GREAT,my 7PRO"......and my Spector's,LOL
