Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

If only the B-stock, warehouse resealed, or blemished units had more than a 90 day waranty...
Seems odd that a factory refurbished unit only has 90 days of warranty.
Suppose I'll have to save up and buy new in order to feel confident about reliability. Glad that they new units sem to have all the teething problems resolved.
In the meantime I'll have to settle for my SVT or SVP-CL SVP1500 to get my Ampeg fix :ninja:

I just bought a factory restock (rev C00) and I haven't had any issues. I have purposely tried to get this thing to cut out and I can't. I had the gain dimed, my B3K AND my Black Russian muff in front of it with the master volume at 3 o clock through my 810e and it didn't cut out.

ok so I bought and returned a pf500. I loved the tone and how it played in a live setting. but while playing live it cut out on me twice. so back it went but I LOVED that tone. so any one who has experience with both these amps can u tell me how similar these amps sound and how so? plus yea the 500 watts of the pf were loud but I would def be stoked with more headroom. I knew I was rollin the dice with the pf (especially since it was a restock) and I lost. im feelin lucky with the 7pro tho. seems all its kinks have been worked out. thanks in advance for ur thoughts/opinions.

Having had (and gigged) both of them, I prefer the 7PRO. The tones are very similar, but the 7 has more heft and fullness, and a tubey warmth to it that the PF was lacking. I suspect it is largely the baked in tone curve is slightly different, but either way, I get a more "vintage" SVT vibe from the 7, while the PF was slightly more balanced and modern. These are really subtle distinctions, though.

that doesn't suprise me and you're not the only one. Don't discount what bass you are using as my active jazz and peavey cirrus sound great with the SVT7, my maple passive P meh...

Could also be your cab combination. OR...it just isn't for you.

I've found that mine sounds completely different with my two cabs, 810e and GK 410rbx, like worlds different. Also I had a P5 that I didn't particularly like with the SVT 7, now my Stingray 5 is another story! :bassist:

I've got a 7(B00) and run it with an Epifani T-112 with a Music Man 5 and I can get a lot of different tonalities out of it... ImageUploadedByTalkBass1364081849.861507.jpg

Tried again via my Roland headphone, this evening. Compression @ 9am, no ultra hi or low, bass, gain & master knobs on 12am, treble at 7-8 am, midrange fully down. Might be a weird setting for some, but gotta admit, I liked it a whole lot more now. Tomorrow I'm gonna check how it sounds through my 210HE and 410HLF.
