Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

The 12ax7 in this is wired to the gain knob correct? How much does it really affect the overall tone? What is the stock tube? Will the stock GT12ax7 from my 100t be a better choice then the stock tube in my pro7? Sorry for the 20 questions. Thanks tho!!

I put a GT12ax7 (with red logo on it) in mine last week, cuz I found the JJ to be to much on the muddy side... Not a big difference but there is one, the GT has less gain but cleaner lows and a bit more opened sound than the JJ... Sounds closer to the SVT4 and SVT3 pro I had before. (these had stock GT tubes from the factory in them...) For now, the GT will stay in my SVT7 as it does the trick and is closer to the sound I want. I'll may try a couple of other tube during next weeks and see how they react in the amp.

I will try the tung sol as well, surely next week...

OK .. Here is what I have to do .. I called them I have to get it to a AMPEG repair shop which the closest one is over an hour away.. and I called them and they are not going to be an AMPEG repair shop after this week so I have to get it there this week period. They said they are having issues with LOUD. .. SAD time that Customer service is even bad with repair shops now a days.. any way I will let people know what it was when I get it fixed which is going to be a 3 - 4 week wait when I get it there.. WOOOO

Unfortunately, 3-4 week wait times are the norm with most guitar and amp repair shops. There are shops around here that'll make you wait as long as a couple months, they're so backed up.

My question is, are there any decals for that matter for sale ?

Lesson learned, I hope! Next time, make your cloth damp using water instead of mineral spirits.

Since it's silk screening and not decals, I doubt it.

I've yet to experience any hiss. You must crank your treble knob pretty good, eh? That can raise the noise floor of the frequencies it affects.

I don't have a problem with hiss at all with mine rev c.

Wooow, lucky. My settings are gain at 3.00, bass at 2.00, mid at 12.00, mid selector at 3, treble at 10.30, master between 10.00-12.00. And my 7Pro is now connected to my SVT210HE cab.

Yes it creates hiss indeed. Quite annoying. I do know there is always some hiss involved with class D amps and such. But imo, I think there's way too much hiss according to my settings.

I just recently got one of these lovely amps! I pair it with an Ampeg 610 HLF Cabinet and it sounds monstrous
