Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

The 3 Pro through my Berg CN212, my 63 P bass with LaBella flats (little foam under the strings when the track warrants it). The huge amount of available eq on the 3 Pro makes it a breeze to get there. I have not had a chance to use the 3 Pro thought my 2 Berg HS210's ...that happens tomorrow at practice hall. Should be interesting.

I have a friend who works at an Ampeg authorized repair facility; he said if they were caught releasing schematics Ampeg would pull the plug.
I bought my first Ampeg 41 years ago (V4B) and the above pisses me off. Like the circuit is so incredibly unique they are worried about it being copied?
My Rev C has never missed a beat although I have yet to see any offerings that would initiate another buy.
All I was ever after was a light and more powerful version of the SVT and SVP-CL / power amp that I already have.

I have occasionally tried position 2 or 4 for add ball cabinets.
If you can't get the sound you want / need with the above settings to cut through, than your tonal goals might be best suited by something with a cleaner inherent tone like a GK.
While I set my SVT up for a clean tone, it will never sound as clean as other amps. The slight (or heavy) wool is why most buy Ampeg to begin with IMO.
I dont like it without the ultra low engaged. It sounds thin and brittle to me. I moved the the mid frequency up which helped. I think with a VT bass this thing will be perfect.
All the ultra low does is cut about 10b at 500hz, it doesn't boost anything. I would say just keep the ultra low off and if you really need to, boost the lows a bit Are you EQing while you're playing alone or are you EQing while you're playing with a band? I have found, as most people do Im sure, that with the exact same EQ settings, my bass soloed sounds COMPLETELY different then how it sits in the mix. In fact, I'm not even all that pleased with how it sounds soloed, but it sits in the mix perfectly and cuts through like a knife.
The Ultra Low also boosts 40HZ by 2db but theres more to it then just a boost at 40hz and a cut at 500hz. Its a curve. I played with the eq while rehearsing. Its defiantly a good sounding amp and its not like Im being burried. It just doesnt cut the same as my Kilo does.
Hmm, I didn't know it boosted at 40hz. Either way though, you can boost 2db yourself with the lows if you want to. I realize it's a curve but I dunno, if you're not cutting through, I would say it's definitely because of the ultra low being engaged. Cutting at 500hz is gonna make it really hard to cut through any mix, at least IMO/IME.
I have never had a problem cutting through and i have played in bands with 3 guitars and have used a 4 10 cab and my 810 cab .no one has ever said I cant hear you..
settings wise try turning off the low boost and use either the 1 or 2 selection and boost the bass up for more low end. what bass are you using and what cab do you have?

Its not that I cant be heard, Its just not as pronounced as my last amp. The only pedal plugged in right now is a MXR M80 but its set pretty flat with the color button out. Its just there for the lazy sound guy I deal with on a regular basis.
It sounds like the real problem is the EQ on the guitars. I like the ultra low in some bands I've played in bands where that scoop sat perfectly. I bet the guitars are smiley face EQ. Have you tried the ultra bright?
Those were my thoughts too. The guitars are way too scooped. You guys are in the same frequency ranges. Let them know you've got the bottom covered, they can take some lows out of their tone.
The guitars arent scooped at all. We also are not tuning low. It could be the room we are in just doesnt work well with this amp. I also dont have a ton of time into playing with eq. Just small tweaks so far. Ultra high is engaged also. Ill give it a shot with the ultra low out. This is the first amp I have ever used the low boost on. I usually set bass and treble flat (or noon) or slightly rolled back and just work my mids.
The nice part about the Kilo was knowing that it had a fender tone stack so I could easily set the 3 band flat and then boost mids with the graphic EQ.
Before the Kilo I used a GK 800RB, all the filters out, bass and treble rolled back and low and high mids boosted a fair amount.

Heres a bit of an update, I used the 7 Pro to track some bass lines last night. I ran straight from the DI, No cab mic. This thing records great !
I was wondering about the output. My SWR was incredible for its DI. I am glad to hear that the 7Pro DI is really good
I had a chance to listen to some live recordings from both rehearsals and a show we did, I can hear it fine in the recordings. Maybe Im just going deaf
Either that or you are standing next the cabinet. Although I have never had trouble hearing myself out of a 810. Esp with a 7pro.
