Ummmm I guess you're trying to be helpful and not a smart a$$? I have read this whole thread..other threads too...and watched youtube vids on the gain settings...did you read thru my entire posts? I will reiterate: I have tried different settings including gain...played this thing at couple gigs now (at home too I'll add)...no stranger to Ampeg...wondering if anyone else had experienced something like this and what they did.

Ummm... Take it however you would like. I have read this whole thread as well. You got a bunch of advice... try to apply it maybe... then tell us the outcome.

I think I am going to try my MIA Precision Deluxe tomorrow with the 7Pro. Maybe that will give me the tone I am wanting. My Modulus Genesis doesn't seem to want to bring it out of this amp. Also, when I get my main bass back, I will have to do a whole mess of work with the amp to get that bass dialed in.

I have to admit, you we're asking for suggestions, but then saying you've tried everything and then comparing the amp to one you found superior. All while asking if anyone had similar experience. He wasn't trolling you, he just seemed miffed by your demeanor.

I could be wrong but the way you worded your posts seemed like this to me: hey I have a 7pro, it's not doing what I want/expected it to do, my peavy is better/louder at half the rated wattage, I've tried everything possible, who had a similar experience so I can justify taking it back.

Like I said though. I could have reading comprehension issues as well.
Those were my interpretations of the last couple pages. If I am wrong my apologies.

Hey Irie, if you are having that much trouble getting the tone you want. Maybe the 7pro isn't what you were seeking. Try an MB800. That's a very clean tone. Super articulate and I think the price is comparable. There's always the MBFusion 800 as well

I understand that the 7 might not be what I am looking for, but since it is such a huge change for me, I want to give it all the chances to break me of what I am used to and let it become what it is. I am working very hard to not compare my old system. I want to be able to judge the SVT on it's own merrit.

I'll take a number! My rev C has performed like a champ with 20 or more gigs under it's belt. This amp fits in the SKB shallow X 2-space rack like they were made for each other. The case itself is very light. My SVT-7 Pro will be holding down the duties this weekend at 2 seperate venues. P bass thru Ampeg for the win!

I don't see how you got that from what I wrote, it's certainly not what I intended.

I never intended to cause problems by asking if anyone had experienced anything like what i was talking about...I did not mean to imply that I had tried everything, only that I had tried what I said that I did.

I went into detail as to what I did try and the bass I was using just to give as much info as I could. I was not comparing the Ampeg to the PV cause I thought the PV was superior...only as a point of reference because it is a 450w amp and the Ampeg is 1000w.

I was only asking if anyone had the same problem and what they did, I don't need anyones approval to justify my returning the amp or exchanging it, just thought that this would be the place to ask since there are so many owners of the 7PRO here.

I do however have some practical knowledge through experience. But others are much more experienced than myself and I will bow to their learnedness on these subjects.

I am simply trying to create an oasis of knowledge and brotherliness regarding this amp and it's applications and troubleshooting it's known or unknown issues.

Again, I am not a fanboy or a zealot. I have just become disgusted with the rhetoric which has ended up surrounding this amp on these forums.

This is my contribution. I know that I will get tons of crap for creating this thread for whatever reason. I am not bashing yet immediately had the Mods on my %^& when I started it. If it fails, I really don't care. I will simply delete my account and stop contributing to these forums (in all ways) because it has become something it was not supposed to be.

I come here to learn in an unbiased manner from learned individuals. These individuals are becoming overshadowed by doomspeakers (not the cool kind), and I hope to change this.

Well, my Rev B 7Pro is screaming loud. I would not imagine, unless in need of repair, how anyone could have an issue with amount of volume. Since I have only put 2 hours on mine, it needs tweeking. Maybe new strings on my Modulus wouldn't hurt :eyebrow:.. Mostly I think I need to get rid of the GT12AX7 for a tube I prefer (IMHO) and that should clear things up with mine. I can't wait to get my gigging bass out of the shop and run this amp with her. My graphite through the body bass should sound amazing with the Ampeg.

Im not whoever it is you said I am. I really came here for help and asked a ligit question. Verminarrd seemed to answer me with a condescending manner, even said to make sure the Dolby Noise Reduction was turned off. What DNR? I thought he was yanking me.

I included all the info in my posts of what I tried so that everyone would see what I had already tried and not suggest those things. Not that I didn't appreciate someone trying to help, just that I had tried those things and said so in my first posts.

Anyway, I'll just see how it goes tomorrow with it and decide what I'll do after that. I won't be back on this thread. If I am mistaken about the condescending attitude then I apologize to you Verminnard.

And by the way...that was not a pm that I was quoting your response to Verminnard. It's a post on the second page of this thread, post number 34. I see now that it was posted by the person that you said I am. I'll paste it here:

great idea, I think the 7Pro should have a Club. No reason to hide or be ashamed of the 7Pro (or any other gear for that matter).

There are many "club" threads here on TB and they are very helpful and generally pretty positive. for instance, I am a long time Mesa Walkabout club member and poster. That thread is in its 8th epic section and folks there have been nothing but positive and supportive of each other and the challenges that come with any piece of gear.

I would ask a question of the "Ampeg folks" in general, and the 7PRo users and supporters. What will you all do if/when someone comes to this club thread and posts that they have a problem or an issue with their 7Pro ? Will you do what most other club thread denizens typically do and honestly listen to the posters problem and offer help, or just excoriate them for daring to post a problem.

I have seen people with straight forward 7Pro problems told by Ampeg supporters that they were lying about the problems with their amp, or that they did not really own the amp in question. This is the kind of stuff that can cause a lot of tension between hard core Ampeg fans and other users.

So, truly, best of luck with the 7Pro club, I have felt that 7Pro users should have this. I just hope you take a lesson from many of the other club threads and be as reasonable and helpful as possible.

There are 4 buttons on the front of the amp. The one under the mute button is the dolby reduction (marked -15 dB). Make sure it is not pressed in. I'm sorry this is so difficult... I edited the thread and apologize if I seemed to mirror your lack of poise back at you. We have tried to help you, but you need to apply the fixes to fix your problem. So sorry you don't want to be a member of the club of the amp that you don't like. Good luck and good riddance.
