Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

AFAIK the even some the early C00's had reported issues. If you stick with either new or a more recent (not more than 2 years old) amp it should make it less likely that a failure would occur. I took a gamble with a B stock and it's worked out fine for me. If I was buying again I'd go new or with a TB'er who reports no issues with theirs.

BGM is very reliable and respected for tech reviews, I wonder how Tekdiver and BGM's testing differed.
Tekdiver took his measurment at 6%THD where as BGM took it at 5% THD like ampeg claims in the specs. From what I remember Tekdiver couldn't recall where the watts where at at 5% THD. Also it didn't quite hit 1k, more like 950 at 6% THD IIRC

Im having issues with my 7 pro again. It started shutting off at practice last night. I was running too much signal though my charvel bass awhile back. I cut it back enough so it didnt clip and brought the gain up. It worked great for a few months, now the problem is back. Im gonna open her up and hopefully find a bad solder joint. Its a revision c btw

Svt7pro inbound.

Thanks to everyone on this thread and others for their opinions and feedback. Glowing BGM reviews don't hurt either. Played one in a store when they were first released and haven't been able to get it off my mind.

Looking for a little more tonal flexibility over my Orange. Orange sounds great but doesn't much eq flexibility in tough rooms.

I bought a 7 pro about 2 yrs ago. Used it without any probs for about 9 months. Heard ALL the bad reports re the 7 pro's issues and altho I'd had no probs with my revC amp, I got cold feet and sold mine.
I was hoping to read how the issues had been resolved. .. And to a degree I think they have but the above posts re shut down issues just make me glad I got rid of mine.
I didn't even post that I'd sold mine back then. I didn't wanna add fuel to the already burning fire. ..
I bought an Aguilar TH500 right after and it's been fantastic AND very little-if any- reports of failures.
I love Ampeg amps in general- love the SVT-VR/CL/II/II PRO and I liked the 7 pro Ok. Didn't think it was a lot like the CL but it was nice.
But I couldn't afford to either lose all my $$ on a failed amp (I bought from THE USA & I'm in Australia-so no warranty) and I sure couldn't have an amp that shut down mid show.

So to all you ppl that have experienced 7 pro failures- I hope you get warranty support-Ampeg seems to be on the ball in this regard- or get yr amp working again asap
Good luck.
