According to this thread, there seems to be 3 options: the Gator, the Carvin and this one:

The Carvin is open-ended, the other two seem to close out, which is better for transportation. More food for more thought....

So last night at practice I put the mid frequency at two and turned up the master slightly. I loved how it sounded and so did my band. I decided I like two. But then this weird thing happened. My amp cut out for a second and came back on. Then out of no where it would get loud and the peak light would come on. I turned up the compression a bit and I hope that's all it needed but it doesn't seem like this should happen on a 1000w amp.

But man that tone I got last night was soooooo good.

Something similar happened to me a couple years ago. The amp cut out a couple times just momentarily and seemed to get a surge in volume. I never was able to diagnose it but it hasn't happened since.

The only thing I could guess is if you run any pedals it could possibly that or a cable/patch cable/jack/battery issue. That's what I assume was my issue.

I'm now playing with the fx loops. If I get it correctly, any mix knob setting between 9 and 3 o'clock seem to slightly bring the volume down, as opposed to anything before 9 or after 3.

So here's my question: is there actually a sweetspot for the mix knob, or we go according to ears ?

Thx. I'm gonna give the loop a shot at next rehearsal. Had a killer sound last week while plugged up front, but wanna hear the other side before definitely calling it. I

So no cutout issues last night at practice. I really love this amp and hope not to see any more cutouts. I was just thinking that if it kept up, I would probably replace it with a SVT classic or MAYBE and SVT 4. i really hope not to have to do that. Want this amp to work and all the stories about it cutting out already have me on edge. Really hope it doesn't cut out again ...

Maybe someday! The 7 worked fine. I guess adding a little compression did the trick.

Heh, had a little scare tonight. Used the 7 Pro and 410he for the first time in a little while, and when I plugged in, I was overloading the gain well before a PJ with vintage style passives should. Sounded good but I could feel a little bit of sag in it. I was thinking maybe the tube went on the fritz. I went ahead with it for soundcheck anyway, and it occurred to me after about a half hour I may have had the instrument/line level switch on the VT Deluxe set on line level, giving it a 20db boost that would totally overload the gain. Sure enough...I set it back on instrument level and it was fine the rest of the night.

Slowly getting back into gigging and the 7 Pro has done me good on two gigs now. Paired up with the SVT610 this is the best sound I have ever had. Still would like to get an SVT-CL one of these days but for now, the 7 Pro is doing a hell of a job.

I've contemplated going with the Carvin 2U case but it still leaves the front and back exposed. I think if I can find a laptop case that's big enough I'll go with that.
