Ampeg SVT-II appreciation thread

Mine gets about 12 oclock then starts oD-ing & gets to a full on GRIND by 3 oclock. Are U guys the same?

I just let mine warm up for an hour and checked it fer ya:

With all tone knobs set flat, mines about the same as yours, but its so loud I rarely get my volume past 4 with my bands. Mines quite a bit louder now than before I had it serviced. It used to just start overdriving at around 3 and was then getting pretty dam fuzzy by 5.

You think you might have a problem or something weird going on there rod?

wow how do you get the volume up to 12'oclock!!!

and then to 3 oclock after that?

are you talking about "level 3" or hourly time, cos then 3oclock would be like level 7 right ??? or am I wrong ?

 U R right I'm talking L O U D !!!!! I usually set it - like U guys- about 3-4 on the dial when I'm playing in bands, but the other day I had it set up in my rumpus/storage room(no-one home..........:p ) so I opened up the roller door, pointed the rig out it, & let it rip....just to see how she sounded at full volume etc....:D:hyper: GREAT FUN!!!!!

I usually have it at about 3-4 on dial (or 9-10 oclock) playing, but I stuck the dial at 12 oclock ('5' I s'pose- I don't have amp here & didn't look at the numbers at the time, just the pos. of the dial) & using my P-bass with flats....... georgous overdrive at 12 oclock-LOUD tho!!! Then as I turned the dial up further-to about 3 oclock ( I s'pose '7-8') LOVELY distortion......this just kept going to flat out!!!!:hiding:
Oh it WAS fun alright. I live on a 7 acre block & yes the neighbors woul've DEFINATELY heard this easily, I only kept it at 12 0clock & over for about 10 mins :hyper: On the bush block's where I live I don't think 10-15 mins of bass grind would worry too many ppl. when chainsaws & brushcutters are often the only music being played out doors:rollno:
Got NO complaints...had a GREAT time, got to see what my lovely SVT2/NV610 sounded like flat out & most settings near-albeit with EQ's all flat. Was getting off on the sheer enormity of the beautiful overdrive & bass boom, I didn't even think to touch any EQ's or pedals!!!!!
WOW it has a nice power tube overdrive- try getting THAT outta my Mark bass LMII :p ( I love that amp too, but in a different way!
ANDERBASS- no, no issues. Just time on my hands in my Summer hol's & FUN FUN FUN!!!

Highly reccomend this to ANYONE with a SVT2, a good -capable-cab & neighbors U either hate or one's that LOVE LIVE music.... I mean in the interest of ART?!?!?!?!?;)
Peace,
Rod

It WAS fun..... I think I'll do it again soon. Real soon!
By the way-Anderbass & others. Just to let U know I bought a nice SHORT 4U rack case for my SVT2. Perfect fit! with end covers OFF the amp just fits perfectly-rear of amp is right at the edge of the 4RU case edge. Makes it HEAVIER tho!!!! :-( was nice B4- now it IS a weight!!! DAMNITT!!!!! But I DO wanna protect it & not knock any knobs/buttons off. Will post some pics asap.

I was talking the dial numbers.

My Levis were flappin in the breeze like a flag in a hurricane and I've probably now ruined any chance I ever had to
experience the miracle of fathering a child.

Thanks allot rod...

Bout time ya gotta rack case and hey, what do you mean its summer? Everyone knows its winter now.
Man, I dont know how you guys keep from just falling off the dam earth living way down there like that... :smug:

We all wear Platform soled shoes for the extra weight to keep us nailed down. They're these great new design that are like a normal shoe- two tone & chunky-normal- with a huuuge sole on 'em sometimes up to 3" with anything up to 6" on the heel. They ARE a new design tho... so I doubt you've even heard of 'em. We're very far advanced in terms of fashion & ...well anything here. I can't wait for the new Boeing DC-9 to arrive. ;)

Come on rod, tell him the truth... They're not really so great, we all just get paid a bunch every time we hype-em.

Do WE??? Hell...they're F*&&&&^T&^% Fantastic!!!!! That should be enough(along with my others) for a NV215 now! :help:

On the down side... My NV610's wheels/casters've busted... & I looked around at hardware stores but couldn't find any with same size axle diameter. :( am in contact with Aus dealer George at BASSGEARDIRECT.COM whose getting onto Jim for me. I tried emailing Jim Bergantino Direct but got no response. Namm maybe?? We'll see what George can bring up! He's always been reliable & honest with me, IF & when I have $$$$ for a NV215-he'll be who I see!!!

That is the most GAS-inducing post I've read in a while. I'm really going to have to get me one of these bad boys one day. Thanks a lot, Rod!:spit::D
