Ampeg SVT-II appreciation thread

I don't know how I missed this thread before.

Sign me up for Number 22 if it's not taken.

1. Cover Band for now-Hard Rock, Blues, Punk, Thrash Metal, Progressive, Funk, Classic Rock (we're all very open-minded) Eventually we plan on writing our own stuff.

2. I'm still tweaking with my Graphic EQ...

Volume at about 4-5 for practice, have not giged yet.

Bass-7

Mid-5 (sometimes I go down to 3)

Treble-7

I generally don't use the Ultra Hi or Low...

QUESTION 1: When do you guys use your Ultra Low/Ultra Hi button(s)?

QUESTION 2: Did this amp come witha floor pedal to switch on the graphic eq? I'd like to have this option from a footswitch-any recommendations???

THANKS!

KEEP IT DIRTY!

(1) I've never found much use for either of my Ultra buttons.

(2) I don't think switching-pedals came with these amps, but nearly any brand of single button switching pedal that has a standard 1/4" (like a guitar cord) plug should work fine for your EQ.
Ampeg doesn't show any on their website but here's a couple that would work fine:

also ive been wonderin, mine came in a ampeg road case that has recessed handles and says ampeg on the handles, ive been looking through the pictures and i havnt seen any others with this, it has the feet on the bottom that fit perfectly into the wholes on the top of my 810, did this amp come with these cases or was this optional? not really a big deal i guess but i sure am curious

Your case is called the Ampeg "SVTRC Cosmetic rack case" and was sold as an option.
These cool cases seem to be kinda rare on the used marketplace. (I'm looking for one now)
Mesa/Boogie also sold a similar head-case. (once again, I'm looking)

I'd like to see one of these again and didn't see any pics of yours.
(do i need to look harder, or do you need to post some pics?) ... :)

(2) Ampeg used to sell a switch (minus cable IIRC) for this head, called the AFP1. It's been discontinued but you still might be able to find someone with old stock online. I had a generic switch for a while but never used it. Any TS cable will work.

i got a question guys, can you run these amps in stereo through an 810e cab safely or is it designed for mono only, the manual for the 810 show how you can do it stereo, the svt II manual didnt say anything about it, i call ampeg and the guy who answered (who also didnt sound like he had a clue what he was talking about) said to only run it mono, on a side note he also said that victor wooten was in the building and that he was a really shy guy, but cool = )

This is not the best picture but this is what my SVT II came with, it does the job...but like you I'd like one that's a flight case or can roll...def cover the back and front, at GC I saw a 6 space Road Ready Case that looked very sturdy, the SKB I think was more expensive and the buckles looked very cheap. I think I asked a question about it, I'm not sure if it was another thread, I'll look up the link for ya later.

People have also recommended the 6 space Gator cases
