Here’s my (probably ‘76 but def Magnavox) V4B. It’s probably hard to tell from this photo, and time hasn’t been kind, but it’s blue, not silver. The cab is a ‘74 and it’s for sure the same stuff. My v4b is about 1974-5. Black switches and aluminum knobs. Can anyone tell me what kind of cloth it should have? Its black now, but I’m pretty sure it had been changed before I bought it in 1989.
Blue? Silver?
Hey Raw N Low! If you would still like a member number for the Ampeg V4 Club, please let me know.
Ok, sure - thanks!Het TomB! If you still want a membership number in the AmpegV4 Club, let me know.
I played through one in the '70's, but I haven't since. Heavy and loud - yes. Allow me to add "large" - as I recall it was a very deep cab. I've no idea what speakers were in it. I think it was designed in the days when the bass signal was not in the PA, and it was meant to fill the hall. The fact that I haven't seen one since suggests you might have a rare bird there!Anyone running a V-4B cabinet?
There is one on my local CL.
2 15" horns, supposed to be as heavy as it is loud... Anyone?

When I joined, I didn't have a V4B but got let in anyway because my old one got burned up in a bar fire, but now I have one from 2013 and nobody's made a note of it in 5 years.#16: JimmyM
The flatback 810 I paired it with. That's all I had there and took my bass with me.I wasn't aware your amp was destroyed in a fire. What else did you lose in the fire?
It worked out, I guess...wouldn't have bought my 69 SVT for so cheap if I didn't have it happen. You're lucky that's all you lost. That was enough though.
the two I have in cabinets, one original Ampeg and an early Magnavox have black grille cloth in them.My v4b is about 1974-5. Black switches and aluminum knobs. Can anyone tell me what kind of cloth it should have? Its black now, but I’m pretty sure it had been changed before I bought it in 1989.

I am. I have one that I use at rehearsal. It’s a beast and too big for most all gigs. But, it is my favirite sounding cab... it is just perfect. It is much deeper and heavier than an Ampeg 8x10 cab.Anyone running a V-4B cabinet?
