regardless of what is being reported, it's obvious she was not in control of her faculties and probably trying to brush off the reality of it to reduce / deflect due to embarassment.

My Mother had a series of small strokes that very much echoed this clip, right before she had a big one that crippled her right side for 3 weeks. It's one thing to see it, quite another to live it. You could see it in her eyes, the panic. So yeah, laugh it up guys, her career is probably over and she's a laughing stock. YAY.

I mean it's one thing to watch Dick Clark, and it's hard to do, and sure it was kinda funny a year ago when he missed a number during the countdown, but he gets a pass because he's an icon, and soldiering on...this, to me, is a little different, she prolly won't get another chance.

I think hover is on target. I think the post-event damage control may be covering up the fact that she did have a mini-stroke. The aphasia she experienced was clearly not a case of a tongue fumble.

My mom had a similar experience and it most certainly was the result of TIA. I hope she's OK and there are no further complications or events like that for her even if it wasn't neurological or a mini-stroke. Her history doesn't seem to bear out such on-camera issues or episodes and there's really no reason to believe she suddenly became a 'dear in the headlights'.

+1 I'm getting the feeling that some of you need to grow up a bit and possibly spend less time in front of the computer.

The first time I saw it I thought it was Just weird, not really funny though. Watch the clip a second time and during the big fumble look in her eyes, something it definitely medically off. Knowing this I don't blame anyone for laughing thinking it was a tounge tied type of thing, neither should anyone else,, it was an easy mistake.

Looks to me like she was terrified at what was coming out of her mouth. I think she started out on the right track, fudged a few words, got nervous and fudged some more, than out of embarrassment she tried to spit the rest out frantically and ended up speaking chinese/germanese. This isn't 4th grade speach class where we all have to sit still and refrain from laughing out of fear of detention, shes a professional and she got mush-mouth. I never see people defending the players in those sport blooper shows, and I don't see this as being any different, all imo btw.

No it isn't a fourth grade class, and I'd expect people here to be more mature than the average fourth grader. The episode with Serene Branson was not comparable to a player in those sports bloopers shows - unless one of those players appeared to be having an epileptic seizure (for example) on the field.

Not to judge, or agree or disagree with any previous posters, but I've never seen anyone flub their words like that. I've seen plenty of very nervous speakers in various situations over the years. None of them sounded like this, even when they were clearly embarrassed and rushed their words. I'm inclined to believe that something went physically wrong. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know. Maybe Branson is covering up a actual medical issue, but I don't know what her motivation would be for that. People would be more sympathetic. Also, medical diagnosis via a short video clip doesn't exactly have the best track record.:hmm:
