I normally love the look of fresh maple, heck my RB's is practically white, and I couldn't be happier, but that tint is looking the dog's nads.... lovely, truly lovely! :cool:

The mods are
Wizard Pickups P/J set, (worth checking out, really cool sounding and nice to be a bit different).
Gotoh 201 bridge
Different value capacitor
Black Pickguard (used to be white)
New neck (used to be rosewood)
Fender Vinyl
Fender flats
Dunlop straplocks
Every screw changed! (trusty indonesian labor managed to chew them all up)

That comes to around £235, plus the £180 or so original purchase of the bass 10 years ago...I know everythings more expensive here! Two things I kept stock were the pots, and the tuners, both because they did an ok job. I didnt fancy changing the value of the pots, and read there is little sonic difference in better make ones, so left em.

Thanks? :D the balls are swingin. the sanding i did last nigth jacked up the logo a little but i looks like the logo is chipping out like the lod ones would when the finish started going thin. the headstock is coming out a nice perfect old school brown and i have changed directions AGAIN.

FULL BLOWN RELIC. very mild relic but relic none the less. i know im gonna get flamed but i spent ALL DAY yesterday on it going through stock footage of old fenders, nash basses and misc tb luthier relic work and i have to say i kinda have a knack for it. i have pics of it in a semi together state and my wife and a couple local friends said its really starting to look legit. a couple even used the word impressive but now im keeping them under lock and key until im 100% done. its not super ratty relic just id say and average about 10 year gigger put away for 30 years after. im getting super excited

still a LOOOOOOONG way to go. i gotta get the string tree and tuners on so i can line up the string and propperly etch away some finish before a final sand to tone that orange tint down a bit. still doing alot of body ding research and i hit the the body with some of that vintage tint to add some dinge to it and then lightly wetsanded away the majority and it really accentuates the body contours to make them much brighter. im going to take some baby blue nail polish and hit a couple chips to appear i tried to keep up with the dings for a while :D ll dings have been hit with stain so the wood underneath dosent look like bright white wood.

the detail chips and hopefully if it works some finish checking on the headstock should bring the neck to a close.

its hard to pause and walk away and do something else so i dont go bananas with finish chipping and such but i know its so easy to get carried away so in between i just research and gather inspiration.

People say "thats the dogs nads "in a good way because the dogs nads must be good otherwise he would not be licking them all the time, my dog loved his tell they went bye bye:p
