Annoying things that tipsy people do at gigs...

Ask if we can play Tennessee Whiskey...
We're a Disco/Soul dance band...
This was during the second half of our show. She'd already been there all night dancing!

Geez, I'm right there with ya, except with me it's "Wagon Wheel". For the record I hate that song. We are an 80s ROCK band, and one time after we had finished up with something like AC/DC's "Have a drink on me" or something similar, a guy walked up and asked "Hey, can you guys do wagon wheel?". I looked at him like he had two heads and said "What song have we played tonight that would possibly make you think we do that song?".

Im used to that from work though. I work at a country radio station, and we used to get requests all the time from people asking if we could play Motley Crue or Destiny's Child or Wham or something.

Wow, so many of these situations I've read about have happened to me too...
Well, except the flirting or being touched by pretty women. :(

My annoyances:
People coming up to me and grabbing at my bass to 'help' me play.
People coming up behind me and reaching around me to 'help' me play.

That one guy that I've have never met, never spoken to, never even looked at who yells to me between each song about how he's going to kick the crap out of me after the set until the bouncers finally throw him out... WTH??

People you don't know bringing you shots and getting mad at you when you don't stop playing mid-song to drink them.
People you don't know bringing shots up on stage and trying to pour them in your mouth while you are playing.

People who don't realize that just because they can't smell their own vomit on their clothes, doesn't mean you can't smell it.

People who stop you to try and start up a conversation when you are on your way to the bathroom after a long set.

People who spill their drinks on me or my gear.

I can and never will understand the popularity of that song..... and it is mainly the under 25yr olds that are requesting it.... didn't Bob Dylan write it in the early 1970's?
But every time we played it people used to go crazy and sing along to it.

in my current band the guys asked if there were any songs I've played in previous bands that really worked.... I suggested a few songs and Wagon Wheel was NOT one of them!

another couple of things that happed at gigs

1) we were outside having a set break and we heard the drums go bang crash - race back inside and someone is on the drummers kit hitting whatever they can... someone also had my bass over their shoulder and they were trying to play it and wondering why there was no sound (I unplug the bass from the amp during set breaks)

2) we played on New Years eve once and it was packed - 2 ladies were dancing close to me by the stage and I happened to glance over at them and saw one was very attractive and well endowed in the chest region.... I continue playing and glance back over at her and she pulled her blouse up and exposed her melons to me for half a second, then waved her finger at me as if to say "you shouldn't be looking at them"... well what can I do if you're gonna get them out right in front of me!

Fall into the band because they’re dancing way too close.
Knock mic stands over.
Kick the tip jar over.
Step on our pedals and turn them on/off .
Spill their drinks on our stuff.
Ask me if we can play Green Eyed Lady, Brown Eyed Girl, or anything Skynyrd.
Buy 3 drinks for a 4 piece band.
Try to high 5 me in the middle of a song (to which I just point my headstock right into the palm of their hand).
Stare at us creepily.

In the alternative thread i created within this thread. At this one gig a flock of beautiful drunk bachelorettes arrived when we were about mid set on the 3rd set. was pretty quiet maybe 15-20 people that the time then BAM! Instant awesome party! They are dancing around hair flying , devil may care (like the scene from a 80's rock video) -then guys see it from outside and fill up the place. Man that was great!
Sorry to threadus Interuptups OP....

The dude sitting right in front of the stage and insisting that I partake in his spliff he has burning away in the bar!!!!! Tugging on my pant leg to get me attention after I have already refused multiple times, is only going to annoy me and the bar staff.
Recently, we had a a drunk yelling at us during sound check to hurry the $#%^ up and start playing, an hour before start time. He insisted that we sucked because we weren't willing to start at HIS designated time!

Ah, yes, the drunk customer that is angry that soundcheck isn't the actual show. That's why I've always hated checking in front of people, but unfortunately, most bars/pubs don't offer any other option. Between that guy and the guy who's mad that you have to stop at 2am (even though he didn't show up till 1:30), I don't know who's worse.

"Annoying antics of drunken weirdo" is an empirically accurate way to describe every rock show I've ever performed, so this guy in a glass house isn't throwing any stones!

Now that I'm over 50, and have a teenage son who would be mortified by such displays, I plan to leave out the "spontaneous nudity" part of the show, unless some conniving saboteur feeds me tequila at a show, in which case, nature will probably take its course willy-nilly.

The fan that records their favorite song on their phone...while drunkenly singing along....out of key....then posts it on social media. :rollno:

Reminds me of one of my favorite limericks:

I sat with the Duchess at tea,
it was just as I feared it would be,
her rumblings abdominal were truly phenomenal,
and everyone thought it was me.

Yess! What's up with this 'Wagon Wheel'??

I played with a blues-rock band at a blues club on Long Island just last week and some drunks were yelling and BEGGING for Wagon Wheel, Tennesee Whiskey...

Call me ignorant, but is this Wagon Wheel the same tune that Sonny Rollins covered in his Way Out West album?

I yell Freebird and Stairway no matter what gig I go to.

Went to see a Hendrix covers band who announced at the start of the set that they were indeed a Jimi Hendrix tribute, then... STAIRWAY! Haha.

Too many to remember - the guy who says he was in a band 20 years ago but is thinking of giving it another shot.

The "You guys are great but..." line.

Another thing that bugs me is the OTT scream and run followed by bear hug when girls see their friends after being apart most likely a week.
