Another Dumb Question - Fieldy (sp?)

Hrm, it just strikes me as humorous that Fieldy's sig bass has sweepable mids....

He just cuts his mids out anyway..... (Yes I realize this bass is being marketed as somewhat versatile, but it is sort of funny)

From the Ibanez site:
"And there at the low end of Korn's signature low end is Fieldy."

Indeed. I would say "low end" pretty much sums up my feelings on Fieldy's playing in general. :D

Ok, I too despise Fieldy's tone, style, and talent (or lack there-of on all 3 cases), but I must say one thing. I just heard the newest Korn single, from the upcoming album, and it is rather catchy. He disguises the clicks and clacks under fuzzy distortion, but you can tell there are a few here and there. Anyways, the song is much more melodic that previous Korn works. As a Korn song I give it an A, but as a rock song I give it a C+.
And I will agree that the drummer in Korn is rather good. Probably the only one with any musical sense.

Dont give feildy any credit for having less clicks in the new album. its only because bands get softer and softer as they get older( in most case). It really sucks but thats how it goes. They did have two good songs, blind, and shoots and ladders, they actually had one other pretty good song but i never knew the name of it.

I'm not a Fieldy fan, but I don't hate him either. If he inspired some kids to at least PICK UP a bass, then I'm happy. Usually when they do pick it up, they find out that his playing is crap, and aspire to be a SERIOUS bassist. He's fine for KoRn, but if that band broke up, he'd be unemployed, unlike Sam Rivers. I think Limp's music is sewage, but I do realize that Sam can play !

I think... all these kids who listen to Korn should deffinitly.. check out lol iron maiden... wait.. they think thats "Old skool and it sux" ... hehe

I could stand KoRn on the older stuff ... self titled.. a little of follow the leader when the bass wasn't so heavy on a few .+few+ of the songs.. hmmm is it a bass?
Back in the day.. everybody ya know.. they were cool.. you saw bands like Megadeth and Slayer and metallica (back in the day) and you never really had anything bad to say about em... they actually played there guitars and got into there music..
now todays so called "heavy metal"... its just like dimebag sed.. you got 7 strings but they cant even play 4 of em barely.. so whats the deal ya know..
I think out of all the nu metal bands around.. only system of a down has real tallent.. there very melodic but there tollerable.
This is coming from someone who loves everything from iced earth, to king diamond to victor wooten to bach... so.... opinions may very... im not saying im 100 percent right.. whatever looses your caboose though

I have Untouchables:
Yes there are basslines, but it's mostly just long open notes, and it sounds all muddy and crappy, I personally don't like it all that much, it sounds kinda like Queen of The Damned songs. There are a couple of winners on it though.

and my 2 cents on Fieldy:

I'm pretty new. I'm only 17, most people my age (myself included) love Korn, I think they really made New Metal what it is (I love it). Fieldy may not be a bass god or whatever people like to call him, but he's not the anti-christ either. Korn has their own sound, and his "clicky" thing is sorta like an extra percussion type vibe, and you got those super low guitars which are pretty basslike, it all equals out. so maybe he's no Les or Jaco, atleast he's not that douche from Blink, now theres a dude who sucks.

I agree totally.

Fieldy was the reason I started bass, but strangely I had not tried to play any of his stuff until about 8 months after I picked up a bass and I haven't played his stuff since. Now I play classic funk and classic rock, and Nirvana. I think as a bass player, no one really knows what Fieldy is capable of because with detuned guitars, heavy drums, and screaming vocals, there is not much room to do anything ...
