Another P vs. J analogy!

I came up with this genius one this morning :
Ps are dogs, and Js are cats!
Dogs are always there for you. Cats are more mysterious and fickle.
Cats are for people who like subtlety and a certain sleek aloofness. Dogs are for people who appreciate having a faithful friend who always greets you happily and honestly when you get home, no matter how long you've been away, or what time of day it is.
If you need someone to jump through a glass door and drag you out of a burning building, you need a dog, not a cat.
If you're hosting the Queen of England at your house, and want to impress, you need a cat (a beautifully groomed Persian, wearing a diamond encrusted collar and lounging on a purple satin cushion), not a dog.
Whaddaya think?? Make sense? :)
Are you saying you would rely on a P-Bass to pull you out of a burning building?

I think a better analogy is that a P-Bass is like a river.

On second thought maybe it's not like a river. More like a prism. Uh..... maybe not.

;)
OP here.
By the way, I'm a boomer. I have several Precisions and several Jazzes, and alternate between them. I also have three cats and a dog, and love them all, for different reasons. No need to choose.
I still can’t decide if a tort pick guard looks better on the dog or cat but based on the pics I’m leaning towards the cat.

They both have their place depending on what you need them to do.
Both my basses are PJs now.
I had an early 80s P that I dearly miss now that I picked up the bass again.
Play what tickles you in the right spot. Anything else doesn't matter

At 5 pages, I'm guessing a lot of folks missed the silliness this thread intended.

I don't care for cats, but I love my J. Well, I kind of like our current cat.

Anyway, cheers for trying to keep it light!

I think I can get on with the PB=Dog analogy. JBs however for me is a dog that can do a few tricks you can’t get a PB to do, but at the end of the day they are both dogs, very lovable and loving.

Now a Soviet era electric bass would be more like a cat. Your not going to anything more out of it than what you put into it, and most of the time it will be a lot less. LOL!!
