In a half-hearted attempt to take this seriously, are we talking studio, live, or noodling at home?

On second thoughts, my heart really isn’t in it after all. I like a jazz. If the song calls for a P I’ll solo the neck. And no one will notice! Except an engineer and Talkbass. Is that like making a cat wear a dog costume??

By the way, I'm a boomer. I have several Precisions and several Jazzes, and alternate between them. I also have three cats and a dog, and love them all, for different reasons. No need to choose.

That's completely unfair. A J isn't stuck up - it's a very useful tool for certain things. A P is also a useful tool, they're just good at different things. Ginger was pretty much useless (unless you ask her, she had a high opinion of herself).

If you take a poll, you'll find folks that prefer a P, and folks that prefer a J - it may not be exactly 50/50, but it's not too far off. If you take another poll, you'll find Mary Ann outpolls Ginger by a huge margin.
