There are such things as sins or mistakes that are unforgivable. Judas lied and betrayed Christ, and felt sorrow and guilt for it. But he's still in Hell, is he not?
Guy didn't want his wife smoking pot in their house. But that fact seem irrelevant to some of the posters in this thread.
I'm not trying to bring down all the tokers here. I don't personally have a problem with those who smoke pot. It's the stoners who waste away being constantly high that I have a sour opinion.
My neighbor did not want weed in his home. She got caught, promised to reform, refused and went behind his back hiding things in the basement. There's no excuse or explanation that can remedy such a lie.
Oh by the way... his first wife was the town drunk. She was at EVERY bar, and known at every one. and when she got drunk, she'd turn into a screaming shouting confrontational monster that my whole block could hear, cuz the bitch would make sure windows were open in the home so sound could travel. Real prize winner there.
I was married once. MY g/f of 4years would love to get married. She's great but since I'm not having any more kids, no way.
I'm not going back to Shawshank.
Don't do it man!! Don't look back!

Fixed it for you.
Nobody here on the board knows the whole story, even the OP.
But the use of the word "bitch" and the use of the possive "his house", etc. show that you don't see the marriage as a partnership, but as something the husband has the right to control.
Considering that it was his home for DECADES before the pothead brought her vice into it, I'd say he's got a damned strong reason to tell her to quit or hit the bricks.
The marriage was a partnership, until she betrayed the trust and LAW that they both joined before she moved in. Don't forget... pot does happen to be ILLEGAL. If he wants no criminals in HIS home, that's a damned good reason to kick her to the curb.
I'd do the same if I discovered my gal was toking behind my back. If I knew she was a smoker, that's fine, I'd enter the relationship knowing it.
He did NOT know.
That there, revealed her moral fiber. The fact that she failed his trust a second time confirmed it.
Who would want to be a stay at home wife?
Cook, clean, raise the kids & service your husband as required.
who made up that role?
I bet it was not a women.

I believe in forgiveness for mistakes. Not for lifestyle flaws.
I will not forgive my father for being an alcoholic, nor will I forgive a pothead stoner. He's made far too many mistakes on account of his drunken foolishness, for me to ever forgive him.
I believe my neighbor made the right decision, even if it cost him. He told her to quit, or that's it. He said she wanted to change, and would. She lied to him. She kept on toking it up. I'd say that was fair. She was given one firm chance, to change. She didn't. Her addiction was worth more than the relationship. He made the right choice to completely drop her. A costly choice, with unfair repercussions, but still the right choice.
Really? Show me where I used the word "bitch"... I'll be waiting.
And as far as "partnership" goes; her actions clearly dictate that she did not look upon this relationship as a partnership whatsoever. She lied to him and then stole from him.
You're oblivious to that it would seem. Instead you choose to lob unfounded accusations at me and bicker over semantics. I'm guessing it's because your position is tenuous, at best.
But if I found out my fiancee was a heroin addict on the side, and had lied to me about it, I would do a whole lot more to help her deal with it then give her an ultimatum and kick her out when she doesn't come through. That's not love, that's selfishness.
Actually I believe the opposite, it only counts if you don't have to ask for forgiveness. That is caring, showing that you'll be there helping and supporting without the person needing to beg for it. No one wants to grovel.
And as far as its related to the whole Christian thing (if I've got my facts straight) it goes along the lines that you HAVE to forgive everyone whose trespassed against you OR you yourself don't recieve forgiveness.
So if you help a grudge of whatever sort against someone, you ain't getting forgiveness.
It one of the Matthew Luke or Perrys, I actually read it in some other thread earlier.
