Another reason why I'm NEVER getting married!

HAHAA! Karma, right?

Karma?

There are such things as sins or mistakes that are unforgivable. Judas lied and betrayed Christ, and felt sorrow and guilt for it. But he's still in Hell, is he not?

Well, could also think of it that God is all knowing and Judas actually played a vital role in the life of Jesus that he brought about his end and ultimate purpose. Judas was actually doing a favor and may have been inleague with ol' Jesus all along...

Completely speculatory and through my worldly rose colored glasses of course

Guy didn't want his wife smoking pot in their house. But that fact seem irrelevant to some of the posters in this thread.

Fixed it for you.

Nobody here on the board knows the whole story, even the OP.

But the use of the word "bitch" and the use of the possive "his house", etc. show that you don't see the marriage as a partnership, but as something the husband has the right to control.

I fail to see why the original post has anything to do with marriage, its virtues or lack thereof.

All it points out is that there are stupid people in the world and we're better off not associating with them. That little gem of wisdom has nothing to do with gender or marriage.

However, I agree that there are people who should not marry due to various kinds of personal preferences, refusal to get along with others, or general weirdness on their part.

I'm not trying to bring down all the tokers here. I don't personally have a problem with those who smoke pot. It's the stoners who waste away being constantly high that I have a sour opinion.

My neighbor did not want weed in his home. She got caught, promised to reform, refused and went behind his back hiding things in the basement. There's no excuse or explanation that can remedy such a lie.

Oh by the way... his first wife was the town drunk. She was at EVERY bar, and known at every one. and when she got drunk, she'd turn into a screaming shouting confrontational monster that my whole block could hear, cuz the bitch would make sure windows were open in the home so sound could travel. Real prize winner there.

Am I the only one who detects a pattern here. First he marries the "town drunk", then a "stoner, who promised she'd reform". Perhaps he needs a bit of counseling on his choice of mates. I've never been married, but I dated more then a bit, and I must admit looking back I only regret not getting more serious with two of the girls I dated. There were many that I showed the door, and looking at their history I'm glad I did. One, has been remarried five times, another, tried to commit suicide three times. Women are a bundle of hormonal neurosis and psychotic episodes. If your lucky you'll only have to deal with the hormones.:D

Okay, I was already laughing with satisfaction at:

I was married once. MY g/f of 4years would love to get married. She's great but since I'm not having any more kids, no way.
I'm not going back to Shawshank.

But then this just made me snort while laughing!!!

Don't do it man!! Don't look back!

Considering that it was his home for DECADES before the pothead brought her vice into it, I'd say he's got a damned strong reason to tell her to quit or hit the bricks.

The marriage was a partnership, until she betrayed the trust and LAW that they both joined before she moved in. Don't forget... pot does happen to be ILLEGAL. If he wants no criminals in HIS home, that's a damned good reason to kick her to the curb.

I'd do the same if I discovered my gal was toking behind my back. If I knew she was a smoker, that's fine, I'd enter the relationship knowing it.

He did NOT know.

That there, revealed her moral fiber. The fact that she failed his trust a second time confirmed it.

so now because she smokes pot she has low moral fiber?

How could he not know she smoked? is he ********?

are you a fundy?

Sounds like you hate people who smoke weed. That's a shame.

Yes, the ex-wife is bad for taking everything from him, but that's partly the husband's fault for having a GIGANTIC knee-jerk reaction to the reefer. Sounds like if he chilled the hell out, he wouldn't be suffering so much. So your neighbor is an idiot and you can tell him I say so.

Really? Show me where I used the word "bitch"... I'll be waiting.

And as far as "partnership" goes; her actions clearly dictate that she did not look upon this relationship as a partnership whatsoever. She lied to him and then stole from him.

You're oblivious to that it would seem. Instead you choose to lob unfounded accusations at me and bicker over semantics. I'm guessing it's because your position is tenuous, at best.

I believe in forgiveness for mistakes. Not for lifestyle flaws.

I will not forgive my father for being an alcoholic, nor will I forgive a pothead stoner. He's made far too many mistakes on account of his drunken foolishness, for me to ever forgive him.

I believe my neighbor made the right decision, even if it cost him. He told her to quit, or that's it. He said she wanted to change, and would. She lied to him. She kept on toking it up. I'd say that was fair. She was given one firm chance, to change. She didn't. Her addiction was worth more than the relationship. He made the right choice to completely drop her. A costly choice, with unfair repercussions, but still the right choice.

I'm not against pot use but I'd never smoke up with my kids.

In any case you can't put a price on freedom.

People like her get what they deserve sooner or later in life.

Conversely, the guy will get what he deserves sooner or later in life.:)

Apologies -- it was the OP who used the word "bitch" not yourself.

However, my point still stands -- let it be noted that I'm not for or against either side here, I don't know all the facts, and neither do you -- but if the neighbour does view the home as 'his' as opposed to 'theirs' then there are issues. Was she 100% in the right and him 100% in the wrong, no and vice-versa.

But if I found out my fiancee was a heroin addict on the side, and had lied to me about it, I would do a whole lot more to help her deal with it then give her an ultimatum and kick her out when she doesn't come through. That's not love, that's selfishness.

As for the stealing. How is it stealing? In the absence of a pre-nup, she's legally entitled to half of the total value of everything they own. Depending on how much was in the house when she took stuff, the value of the house will probably outweigh the value of the stuff she took, meaning that he still got off with more than 50%.

we're talking about marijuana here not heroin. 2 VERY different drugs.

Plus from my understanding she never lied to him about it, just about quitting it. As anyone who has ever had to quit cigarettes can tell you, the first time you try to quit is not always successful.

It almost sounds to me as if the guy needed an excuse to dump her and used the first one he could find.

Actually I believe the opposite, it only counts if you don't have to ask for forgiveness. That is caring, showing that you'll be there helping and supporting without the person needing to beg for it. No one wants to grovel.

And as far as its related to the whole Christian thing (if I've got my facts straight) it goes along the lines that you HAVE to forgive everyone whose trespassed against you OR you yourself don't recieve forgiveness.

So if you help a grudge of whatever sort against someone, you ain't getting forgiveness.

It one of the Matthew Luke or Perrys, I actually read it in some other thread earlier.

It's still forgiving to get something in return.
