This great musician spurs me on to a few newbie questions

what kind of pick does he recommend ?

What is the name of the technique he uses to muffle or dampen or mute his sound ?

I’ve searched “muting” and nothing i found strongly resembles what Anthony Jackson did when i saw him perform

Does Anthony recommend using a metronome or related device to practice with ; as seems to be in fashion these days?

I don't know what kind of pick Anthony Jackson uses, but I'd wager a weekend's worth of beer money that Anthony Jackson doesn't "recommend" any kind of pick...rather, he almost certainly advocates that every player needs to make this sort of personal discovery for themselves, rather than simply emulate their heroes.

What is the name of the technique he uses to muffle or dampen or mute his sound ?

There are 2 distinct methods of muting using your hands/fingers. And Anthony is a master of both. The first being palm muting. There should be quite a few lessons on YT for this technique. Another method is using the fingers of your fretting hand to mute the strings. Danny "Mo" Morris is a master of this technique. I really don't know if it has a proper name/label. And as far as I know, there are not any [public] lessons addressing this technique. If there are, then I'm sure someone will sound off and let us know.

I have seen Danny Mo speak to this technique in a few of his live streams with SBL. While this lesson is not on the technique, you can see how it is employed by Danny. The notes are fretted with his index finger and the other fingers are lightly laying on the string to mute it . . .
