I discovered them with blast tyrant and robot hive exodus a few years back and they're still on drogo's official top five most mindmeltingly awesome bands of all time this side of pluto list. It's laminated and everything.

i saw em back in like 94 or 95 at some little club in Dayton, 2 local sXe bands opened, then Karma to Burn, then clutch.

My son and i drove 8 hours to AC, NJ to catch them a couple years back. Totally worth it.
Be warned: Their shows are testosterone laden sausage fests...and that's just the women. I kid of course (kinda). The only hassle I ever got at a Clutch show was from some drunk grandma/fangirl (she shall remain nameless, but you know who she is) because I wouldn't dance to Small Upsetters. My son was laughing his a$$ off...I haven't slept since.

I've never been a fan honestly. I worked security at one of their shows in the mid-late 90's and they were pretty cool dudes. Last week a song came on the radio and it was Clutch. It was a pretty cool song, I have to say. I will give them another listen...

I've changed my mind about best shout along song....today's choice is Swollen Goat. The rhythm, pacing and alliteration in the lyrics are sheer class. I'd kill to be able to write lyrics that are such an integral, percussive PART of a song.

That Flint show was amazing, and the break in Oregon rules! A few more of my favorites from that show are Texan Book of the Dead & Rock 'n Roll Outlaw. Ferocious.

I still have to say that the coolest clutch moment i have seen live so far has been an uptempo (prolly a good 20 clicks faster) version of spacegrass for an encore.
i grew up with dan(clutchs bassist) little sister. they lived in a house down the street from me. their parents still live there, and i still live in the area. on rare occasions, ill see john there. pretty cool. i still turn into a total fan girl everytime i drive by that house.
