Two small stripboard effects,
Fifth Gear on left painted lemon yellow. Fifth Gear sounds really nice as a boost with gain set on the edge of breakup. Could use more volume output though.
Univox Square Wave Fuzz on right in kid painted 'X' pattern. This can do boxy square wave fuzz or ripping distortion with long sustain.
Both get one thumbs up .

i used NOS 2N2219As for Q1 & Q4, a NOS 2N1306 for Q2 and a BS170 for Q3 - the same as the original.

Seems as though the 2N1306 is getting tougher to find. Their out there at a premium. I do have some 2N1308s that spec out very close. May have to give this one a shot as well. Just ordered some NOS N2219As. I have built a Fuzz Throne and for giggles tried it on the bench with a clean blend. I’m really liking that one. I will probably box it up with the clean blend.

yeah, fortunately, i bought some NOS 2N2219A's and 2N1306's a few years ago and still have a few left of each. i think a 2N1308 will work just fine it it.

Been awhile since I’ve posted any new builds. I will probably redo the enclosure at some point. It was my first attempt at water slide and I not real happy with the results. It sounds way better than it looks.

I used Invalid Link Removed mod descriptions starting with EQD Speaker Cranker schematic from drdfx.

Oh man...I have one of the big box DA-120s...I'd LOVE to get a little one.

I'd love to have the big box version just to compare. Wonder if its even close or way different. Lol. This has tons of low end. With the drive down and gain up , depth and boost adjusted just right , you can get a nice warm tube sound. I have found that I have to cut the bass more than anything. This is with a mex P with quarter pounders.

This week in the super secret Passinwind lab:

Open source variable HPF in JLCPCB's new purple color, sized at 2.1" by 1.08". The slope is a little gentler than many of the usual suspects and is meant to enhance interaction with bass tone controls for various (hopefully) cool overall frequency response curves. It's based on a design I've been using in my own amps for several years, but I expect some massaging to be necessary to really dial it in as a standalone widget.

And I am giving Tayda's UV printing service a first try for a few Bass/Mid/Variable LPF preamps in 1590BB format, like so:

Frantone LoTone fuzz on stripboard into a 1590B.
Another LM386 distortion, sonically similar to the Peach Fuzz, but with a lower frequency emphasis. Best bass pick among the Frantone and LM386 effects I've built so far.
