Anybody Offering A Decent New Short-Scale Model This Year?

I was going to suggest the new, posher spec Chowny Scott Whitely bass. Played one a month of so ago and it was truly lovely! Some lovely maple top models available...

Posting stuff like this needs stop. This is BS. It's a form of trolling, IMO. I just bought a Caprice. And then a Jazz. I was planning on a nice simple TMB30 next, and now you have post this garbage. What am I supposed to do now? Make believe I never saw this?

Maybe they weren't released this year but I've been curious to try the Ibanez Mikros. And a few of the other suggestions above have also piqued my interest.

Love my Mikro. Check out the club thread.

I love and gig my Artcore by Ibanez.

I've played the TMB 30 Talman by Ibanez and it was good.

Heard good things about Mikros.

I dig and gig my Fender Starcaster.
I dig and gig my Rondo Hofner violin bass clone.

A friend gigs an Epiphone Rumblekat.

I gas for. Hofner club bass and an Eastwood fretless Classic IV.

None of those are over $800.

Not sure what your budget is, but I would recommend Scott Beckwith of Birdsong Guitars. The Shortbass comes in at about $1000, and a Birdsong will be about $2000.

You'll be hard pressed finding any production model that delivers what his do for the price. Also offers a 31" 5 string.

Birdsong is having a sale this weekend. I believe it is on inventory items so a chance to save a few bucks.

For something that came out new specifically this year, there's the Reverend Wattplower. It's running at $1400 new and $1000 used. You didn't give us a price range, and that's the first "new" short scale that came to mind.

That is a nice looking bass. I’ve always liked the looks of Reverend basses. I was agonizing over buying a Mercalli a few months ago. Never played one though. Do you have one or have you played one?
