My macbook is a year and a half old, I see no reason to upgrade it at all. My dad's IBM laptop has way better everything, but I can boot up, check my email and have my computer shut off before he even has his booted up. He has also added more RAM twice since he got it and it is still way slower. I don't take my computer apart to upgrade it because it doesn't need to be upgraded. I know someone with an old Apple G5 that has never been upgraded that runs faster than any other computer that I have ever seen. Also, if I needed it, I could take my macbook apart and put in more RAM if I wanted to. It isn't that hard.

I'm not quite sure I buy the "no need to upgrade a Mac" argument. If I bought a Mac 7 years ago with the same specs as the PC I bought then--including 128K RAM--I find it quite difficult to believe I wouldn't have had to upgrade it as I did my PC a few years later. And of course, the Mac would have cost more, and apparently, the upgrade would have been more difficult to perform. Believe me, I'm an idiot when it comes to working on computers, and upgrading the PC was incredibly easy.
And yes, I'm still using that PC now, and I've never had a major issue. Though I'm going to have to buy a new one next year.
