Anyone else trying to quit smoking in 2013?

I commute an hour in each direction for school. I would typically smoke like crazy in the car on the way to and from school.
It was not a fun morning, but I made it.
43 hours smoke free.

Wow dude, you made it. Keep your guard up-your brain will keep trying to talk you into it for awhile.
Been more than three days now. Was REALLY hoping the physical withdrawals would be done by now. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
One HOUR at a time if needed. If your brain tries to make you buy smokes tonight, tell it to wait until tomorrow. Repeat.

I'm typically against rage quitting but it there's one thing the you should rage quit, it's smoking!
Ok, thought I'd join the discussion..
I've smoked about 5 (roll yr own-w/filter) a day for about 20 years.
I don't feel bad from it, altho I know I'd feel better if I stopped.
Thought about it new years, didn't do it....
Now, I think I oughta
I'm like a cuppla others posted above.... Have a 20 min drive to work & that's my cig time.
I don't have one until 1-2pm many days, but as soon as I get into the car....
I've been getting fitter lately too, so I can imagine how it's halting my (already ok) progress.
Gigs- I add 4 to my tally. One before & one each break.
Anyway, I'm gonna read thru all this thread & get onto it.:thumbup:

You know how much a pack of say 30 is here in Aus?
$12 abouts.
My 50g tobacco pack is $34 & comes in a plain olive green pack with pics of dirty lungs & health info on em- all packs in Aus are the same now.
Just a small "fine print " at bottom showing brand name.
Not easy for store owners trying to get you a pack of Champion Ruby Blue
They better have their reading glasses nearby

The also can't display them anywhere in store, they have to be kept below the counter or behind opaque closed doors. If you want to buy cigarettes you need to know what you want to ask for, the person behind the counter then has to spend a couple on minutes searching through 50 packets that all look the same to find them, and then tell you then don't have them and you get to take a guess as to what they might keep in stock.
The cigarettes themselves also cannot have any branding on them, just a single number printed above the filter. A little scary, I found it slightly reminiscent of 1984.
This effects all tobacco products, including cigars and cigarillos. Even the cigar band can't be branded:
They also now come in cardboard or plastic sleeves instead of tins. If you can't brand your packaging, why bother spending any money on it at all?
I don't even smoke tobacco, but I think it's pretty atrocious to be honest. Restricting companies from advertising during sports and kids TV shows is fair enough, abolishing advertising completely was going too far already in my opinion, but this is just getting ridiculous. If you're going to prohibit them entirely eventually, which it seems is the goal, don't go for some half-assed shaft all the companies until they give up and slowly legislate them out of existence method, do it fair and outright.
