Anyone have any experience with Reliablefender at Ebay?

I went back and checked the page and it said smooth saddles, but eBay tracks the revisions and showed he had changed it from grooved to smooth after the sale.

He was willing to take it back, but it would have held up my build so I just put the grooves in the thing myself.

+1 another for you for grooving it yourself. I have heard this is the way to go even though I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Interesting. I bought a set of GL knobs from him. The part about the shill bidding makes me want to not do business with him again, because it did happen to me. I had them for like $5 and then I had to shell out $10 finally to get them. $10 isn't that much but if I were bidding on a complete bass and that kind of crap went on I'd just abandon it.

I was wondering how a set of GL Jazz knobs just fell on him and now that I know why I'm a bit . . . disgusted to be honest. He's taking these wonderful instruments off the market and jacking the prices for the rest of us. Kind of like a house flipper . . . and I can't respect that kind of behavior. It is speculation when you get right down to it.

If I'm not a bad judge, I'd say the vast majority of guitars he buys to 'part out' are factory seconds, as the things I have bought that were meant to be new indicated this, eg, dint on paintwork, cracks on headstock. And the ones that aren't probably had an issue with one part or another, so he buys 'broken' second hand guitars and parts them out.

I just received a 2010 'MINT' American Vintage jazz bass neck from him.. nasty chunk out of the headstock and chunks out of the bass.. none of which happened in transit as the box is pristine..

Lets see what happens..

Oh and the guy put masking take with a part number OVER THE FENDER DECAL :rollno: they are not clear coated on the US vintage series, I was so lucky not to have the decal lift too much, just a tiny bit around the edges. who does this?!!

This is the neck I received today.. described as 'mint', minor stuff yes.. but I paid near $700 for it!

I checked the truss, still moves nicely, so not worried about that!! I thought the same when I unwrapped it 'oh bugger.. Stuffed truss rod!', but is all good!
