You sure that Dart only weighed 1900 lbs with you in it? Holy heck, that must have been stripped down to nothing to get it that light with an iron headed 440 and a 727 in it. No wonder it ran 10's.
If I could get my Camaro that light it would likely go mid to high 8's with the engine that's in it. Right now the car goes 10.30's on street tires/thru mufflers and it weighs 3600 lbs with me in it.
You have to remember Mike at that point of the cars existence it was basically a trailer queen. I mean, I COULD drive it on the street ( as far as five gallons could get me as that was the size of my fuel cell ) it also had zero interior save the race seat and 5 point harness. I tried lexan windows but hated them. They were noisy as hell ( wobbled like mad in the wind ) and were hard to see through after very little time on the car. I put the windows back in after a bit over a year. The heaviest bit that I added was a group size 65 battery because that gear reduction starter drew amps like a super sucker. I had weld superlites instead of the centerline wheels everyone else ran back then.
