Anyone here think instruments are about to get real cheap?

Not now...maybe in 6-8 months when stores will be trying to get rid of old stock to make room for new stuff...since 65% of people are staying home and avoiding crowded places.

Right now, people are worried about how much toilet paper they can hold in their closets...

I agree that used and vintage prices should fall quite a bit until the economy rebounds. A lot of people will have cash flow problems and be forced to sell, especially people with large caches of gear who can get by with less.

which affects more products than most folks realize. lots of components come from china even if the product carries a USA/other tag.

I can think of much more important issues to worry about at the moment.

Something else you might want to think about: Worrying about something, by itself, accomplishes absolutely nothing.

I think basses are cheap enough already and life is too short to hold off on anything that you want.
Most people do not realize this until they have had a near health issue death sentence...live everyday like it is your last.
This is my personal opinion only.

I have no real use for more cheap instruments. I am in the market for a house! The ~2008 era seemed to help out buyers.

If anything, shouldn't China sourced goods be going down in price? Those in a panic mindset, may view current Chinese imports as a potential biological weapon.

I'm more worried about bar owners not being able to make their nut and going out of business. My daughter is a trade show rep. All of her work for the next three months has been cancelled. Entertainers in general will be bitten badly by the measures we all have to take. Here's hoping everybody gets through this in good shape.

I recently decided to sell a bunch of my gear, including an HH Strat, bass and guitar amps/cabs, and recording stuff. I hoped to use the proceeds to fund a high-end fiver, but I've decided to hold off until the crisis passes. I've assumed the market will tank, and I normally sell locally on CL and don't necessarily want those interactions now.
