i can do one better.

i started the "Carrots" thing. when paul the site owner first turned on the ability to place a poll on tb, folks were posting all kinds of idiotic ridiculous polls, and it was obnoxious. in an effort to discourage this, without outright impeding it in any way, i started adding the "carrots" option as a way for the membership-at-large to actively protest the more absurd polls and hopefully send the message that, if you want to be taken seriously, don't be poll-doofus.

this was almost always a moderator edit on my part - if folks started a poll with the carrots option already, i would edit or delete that option and add one of my own.

and so the legend was born. heh.

I always thought they grew in the ground.

some carrots are harvested from trees. like strawberries.

also: most carrot varieties are grown for left-handed people. not a bad thing, but awkward when driving in the states at highway speeds.


true story: when i first moved to cincinnati i lived next door to a family of carrots. nice lot they were, but i never knew where to look when addressing them. here's a picture of my former neighbors: doug and jane, with their adopted child, ricky (who was about 5-6 y.o. when this pic was taken):

i don't think carrots are that interesting on TB but in real life: they're a hoot!

That ancient carrot looks far too much like a mandrake root for my comfort.

Carrots should be rubbed along the throat, sort of like a lotion or balm, to keep cholesterol from clogging the carrotid artery.

Ricky doesn't "look" adopted, whatever/however that "looks", but I suspect Doug's brother may have had something to do with little Ricky...

I'm curious about this one. At first, I thought it was an allusion to the idea that 'one's tone is like a bag of wet carrots.' Not sure why I thought that, but I did. Who would want a tone like that?
