Anyone know where rock is still alive?

Portland remains a hard core music lovin' town, although I have not heard of much breaking out of there lately.
I've had friends from Europe ask, "Is their any good rock coming out of America any more?"

 Maybe this is what you want?

That's good! I was expecting to hear "So let the sun beat down upon my face" though.

Rock is really everywhere now, but you have to get out there and hunt for the pockets. I don't know if we'll ever have something like Seattle in the early 90s, LA in the 80s, Detroit in the 70's, or San Francisco in the late 60's again...
I think those eras were really defined by sound coming from either studios or labels (or movements in the case of SF). You had SubPop, Motown, and Capitol back in those times.
Now we have iTunes...

Any place where they appreciate any metal rock classic rock and not any rap or pop stuff? I'm thinking San Fran bay area...anywhere else you guys can think of?

Do you mean where there are bands recording new heavy rock stuff or where bar crowds want to hear heavy cover bands playing classic rock? My neck of the woods is pretty classic-rock oriented; not that there isn't a crowd for pop too, there always will be.

Seattle is still a hot spot, big names coming out of here still. I.E. most of the projects I'm on.

*primps hair egotistically*

There is an overabundance of bands in SF, though more and more of them are being pushed out of the city due to the cost of living. Unfortunately, there is not really any kind of a unified scene, just pockets and groups who don't come out in big enough numbers to keep the venues in business.

The consensus seems to be that Sweden is where it's happening.

Oh, and cover bands aren't really a thing here, unless you're a very dramatic tribute band.
