Anyone switch out a Boss enclosure for new style??

I've got a Boss chorus pedal that sounds great but I have never liked the Boss style hinge footswitch design. Has anyone ever switched out a Boss enclosure for the newer style pedals and switch?

Oh yeah, people around here have shown off rehoused OC2s a few times so I assume it's somewhat common.

i like boss pedal, you can find the button are hinge foot switch easy on a dark stage. myself i use boss and tc electronic pedals on my board. i do not care for the switches on the zoom b3n are what ever you call it, but i don't care for multi effect pedals myself. i do like my dog mugs

Yeah I see people do all sorts of rehousings.

I always thought the boss pedal design was pretty cool and well thought out. You had battery access from the top and didn't need to unvelcro it or use a screwdriver to get to it. The battery cover could not get lost. Of course, I don't know many people who use batteries anymore so... But the raised pedal hinge made it unlikely you'd bump a knob with your toe. They were pretty compact for the time and even today they aren't that bad.

I'd like to see more interesting enclosures available for pedal builders these days. I'd probably want to rehouse some TO a more Boss styled chassis.

I've seen a lot of pictures of rehoused boss pedals. Dont know how much work goes into it though.

Personally I'm another that likes the boss pedal design. I just not huge on the sound of some of their pedals. I do think boss pedals are much easier on the feet when playing at home without shoes (I never wear shoes in my house). Also they are much easier to hit on a dark stage. I still miss a pedal stomp at least once per gig with my non boss pedals. Honestly been thinking about buying barefoot buttons for my Darkglass and TC pedals to help me be more accurate hitting the switches and also for playing without shoes. Another thing thats great about boss pedals is how easy it is to have two of them side by side and being able to easily hit them both at the same time. Back when I had an ALL boss board that really made me look at these boards with pedal switchers like "what do you need those for".

Yes, it's called "re-housing" by pedal enthusiasts. It can be tricky because there's sometimes multiple small circuit cards inside a pedal connected with ribbon connectors. I admire the skill of builders who can do it cleanly.

LOL Whut? The Boss IS the "newer style pedal and switch"; it's the die-cast aluminum Hammond box with the clunky mechanical footswitch that's a throwback to the first MXR effects in the 70s.
