Cool!

I'd be interested to hear folks opinions about going to the "next level" of jamming. That is to say a PA and a drummer.

I love the idea of more jamming opportunities but we don't have a space that is well suited for louder playing. The only space is a gym are which is really echoey and is also where the eating will be. So, a PA and drummer would ONLY work if we had a drummer who was willing to play a small kit with rods and brushes and singers willing to not crank it up.

Let me know your thoughts on this. If someone has a drummer they'd like to bring that fits that description I'm open, but I don't want to just have a big set of drums sitting there for folks to wail on.

Opinions?

I was thinking of bringing a small wattage gtr amp, so if we can keep volume low, that would be cool

MrBear and I will be staying overnight he is going to book us a room somewhere around the airport
Thank for the information
Really looking forward to it thanks for the invite

Cool! Glad you guys are coming. I'll add MrBear to the list. Let me know if you need suggestions for anything else to do in Chicago.

I just realized that I grew up right around the corner from there... 13th and Springfield. I think the neighborhood changed over the last 30 years.
For better or worse, Lawndale is probably pretty close to what you remember, though the big Roosevelt theater got torn down a couple of years ago so the Roosevelt/Pulaski corner is a good deal more empty now.

You up for coming back to the old neighborhood for a bass GTG?

Last I remember, that was converted to a church. I am waiting for my wife to decide if a vacation will be the week of 4/2 or 4/9. If I'm in town, I'll try to make it.

Cool. Hope it works out.

Yeah, it was a church for a long time. When I moved here about 13 years ago a congregation was still meeting there but was just about to close up shop. They tried to sell the building, and my church briefly considered buying it, but it was in really terrible shape. Sadly, after sitting empty for about 8 years it finally was torn down. I took two plaster finials (about a foot long each) out of the wreckage and hope to clean them up and maybe paint them someday.

If you mean Midway Airport I can recommend some good eats in that area, I go through there every day on my commute to work. If you dig Eastern European cooking, Mabenka by 79th and Cicero is a must-do - they will stuff you stupid. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. :D

I'm in. I'll be coming down with theduke1. Probably bringing my Ibanez 5'r and Ocean fretless as well as my lil bass uke. If more food-things are needed let me know and I can pick some stuff up as well.

Also, if the small jam space works out, I can bring my small PA setup (just 2 small powered 8" mains, a 6 channel mixer, and a pair of vocal mics. Just need to know a little ahead of time to figure which vehicle I'll need to bring with.

Aftwr checking out the thread from last year's GTG, I've decided to make it a priority to attend this year.

I'll be coming from far, far west, near DeKalb/Sycamore.

I can bring my Roland TD electronic drums and I also have an ultra portable small amp and speakers to play it through so we can have drums at low volume.

If someone can bring a mini mixer and a couple of mics, we can run vocals into the same amp.

Looking forward to this very much.

I’m really looking forward to this gtg
I get to road trip with a friend and meet new keepers of the low. Share some stories and see alot of gear and fellowship.
Not to offend anyone here,
I pray for safe travel to and fro for all and for a day to share our talents and to show that there is still a lot of good in this country
Rock on
Duke
No offense taken. See you then.

If folks are willing, please check the top of the first post for a couple more things we need for the event.

That's the perfect solution for the drum issue. Let's do it! I'll put you down for drums and drum amp.

We'll set up a Jam spot in the gym.

Anyone else want to bring mixer and mics?
