US: Midwest April 15th, 2018 Chicago Spring GTG!

Hey Folks,
I'm trying to divest myself of responsibilities for bringing anything but instruments to better focus on the organization and setup day-of. So here are a couple new requests for help and supplies.

1) Someone to bring name-tags, Markers and paper/pens for sign-in.
2) Someone willing to work the front door and keep track of who arrives and collect pizza cash and orders.
3) Anyone able to bring a cooler? Doesn't have to be huge. We've already got pledges for ice (so you wouldn't have to bring any) and another mid-sized with ice, but a second cooler would be ideal.

I'm not on facebook but @UpperBout is handling outreach to the Chicago Bass Players facebook group.

The bigger the better! We've got room this time.

Also, are you bringing a drummer and drums?

I'll do the name tags and markers. Don't have a drummer yet and no real prospects... it was more an "if it works out" kind of question.

I found his basses more likely to make you doubt your need for more than 4...

Maybe it's time she gets....well um.....

You can tell her it's OK, The P and Tele both made Bass of the week at Best Bass Gear. That should calm her down :woot:

I don't have any specific recommendations. I think there are several quite nearby, but some look a bit shady. May want to check review sites online. As for nearby locales there are 3 Hotel-Heavy areas that are all about the same drive-time away...
-Midway Airport is quite close and has several good options, most of which are south of the airport, but still not too far away.
-Downtown Chicago is going to be more expensive, but it's just strait down the freeway.
-For something just as nice and more laid back, Oak Park is about the same distance away and has lots of nice places to eat as well.

Oakbrook Terrace, will have even more options, but it's also a good deal further away.

I'd be interested to hear folks opinions about going to the "next level" of jamming. That is to say a PA and a drummer.

I love the idea of more jamming opportunities but we don't have a space that is well suited for louder playing. The only space is a gym are which is really echoey and is also where the eating will be. So, a PA and drummer would ONLY work if we had a drummer who was willing to play a small kit with rods and brushes and singers willing to not crank it up.

Let me know your thoughts on this. If someone has a drummer they'd like to bring that fits that description I'm open, but I don't want to just have a big set of drums sitting there for folks to wail on.

Opinions?
