I'm in! Put me down for pizza, and helping with setup. I might bring some soda and water as well.

Last year was great, I'm looking forward to this one.

All right folks, lots of interest was expressed earlier but now that we have a set date, I'd like to know who is coming. If you are, please say so, and I'll start a list.

Please note also if you are bringing snacks/pop/ice and if you are avaialble to give rides.
I am doing my best to attend on April 15. Thanks for setting everything up. I’ll kick in $25 or whatever is needed when I see you. I’ll also try to bring my Orange 25 watt amp to be used if needed.
Looking forward to meeting everyone. (From Door County, Wisconsin)

Love door county!
That was where we Honeymooned over 30 years ago

I’ll be there as well. Can bring water/soda and/or snacks, or stop by Costco and get cups/plates/napkins/whatever. On the NW side of the city (Jefferson Park) as well if anyone needs a ride/wants to carpool.

Will post what gear I’m bringing closer to the event as I feel a purge coming on.

I’ll also volunteer to show up early and help set up (and this time actually be on time :D )

Looking forward to it!!! :bassist:

Had another idea for spreading the word.
Any of you who would be willing, please put a link to the first page of this topic in your sig for the next month or so.

Cool!
Love Door County. Spent a week in Gills Rock on a family vacation once. Grandma rented a cottage right on a cliff and I convinced most of the family to try rock climbing from the bottom. With ropes of course.

No worries about cash now, but there will be a tip jar out for the YMEN staff helper....

Sounds great. I'll put you down for Plates and Napkins and setup and carpool.

Haven't done one of these since tho old Lakland days. Would love to attend but unfortunately I'll be on vacation.
Sorry to hear that. However, this is the second I've put on and it's very likely this is now a yearly event, so hopefully we'll see you in 2019!

Update Feb 15th. April 15th is the day, let's get planning!

Here's the details folks:

Chicago Spring Talkbass Get Together
-April 15th
-Load in starts at 1, Official start time 1:30, out by 6PM
-Location:
Young Mens Educational Network (YMEN)
1241 S Pulaski Rd,
Chicago, IL 60623
-Parking is in the fence gravel lot to the South of the building

Cost:
-Thanks to some generious Talkbass members (not me) rental of the space has been covered and there is no fee for admission!
-There will be a tip jar out for the staff worker who will be opening up, closing and generally helping out.

Food:
-Drinks will be allowed everywhere, but food and snacks will stay in the gym area.
-Pizza and Salad will be delivered at about 4:40 from Lou Malnati's. $10 buy in for that will be collected at the event.
-Drinks and snacks to be brought by whomever is willing (see below)
-No alcohol. Sorry.

Jamming, hanging and Gear
-As well as the kitchen eating area, We'll have two separate, good-sized rooms for hanging and playing. No amplification provide by YMEN, but I'm confident a few of you will bring rigs. Don't forget to bring stands!

-Sales
The event is not a swap meet, but if you've got a couple pieces of gear you're looking to sell, bring 'em. If possible, put a tag on it indicating price so folks know what is for sale.

So, a few things you can do:
1) Post if you are coming, and if you are bringing any other guests.
2) Post to volunteer for setup, cleanup and bringing of snacks, drinks and ice.
3) If you're available to give a ride, please post that as well.
4) Post here with what gear you are -or are willing- to bring.
5) Spread the word to your friends, other bass groups, etc. This may be a "TB GTG" but any bassist or interested musican is welcome. If possible, please PM me with expected number of visitors, but even if you can't send me numbers, bring people anyway.
6)Feel free to discuss, suggest, etc here any ideas you may have about the GTG. This is your GTG too and I'm always open to new ways to make this fun for you.

That's it for now. I'll update this post periodically with who is coming and who is voluntering.
I'm really looking forward to this and I'm really happy that we'll be able to use the space of such a great community organization like YMEN.

It's going to be a great event, hope you can make it!
