I owned / used one for a couple years in the 2010-12 time frame. Mine wasn’t a good year, it was from around ‘04 I think, and was made of flake board / blandex. It sounded kinda’ “dark” with the amp section out of a Fender Studio Bass combo amp (~180 watts, all tube). I traded it in on a new Ampeg SVT 410 HLF, which ended up being one of the worst sounding cabinets I’ve owned (except for a couple home-made cabs I built).
The 810 I had was lighter than the older ones, but still about 120 lbs. It got me thinking about weight very quickly & I still think about that.
I still see them on back lines of live music events, usually on broadcast TV.
I played through an older one back in October ‘25 that was being provided by the sound company at a blues festival. It was being driven by a real 300 watt, all tube, Ampeg SVT. It was a major disappointment because it had two blown speakers and rattled like a marble in a shoe box….
