Double Bass Are all musical styles of equal value?

Souless non-jazz. Does Yngwie Malmsteen count? Peter White is pretty souless when it comes to smooth jazz. It's like elevator music and takes zero chances.

OTOH, Sade has lots of soul and somehow the smooth jazz movement has coopted her music (or does she take on that category?)

Isn't he supposed to be a classical-influenced metal guitarist or something? But, yeah, his noodling, while technically impressive, is souless to me... doesn't evoke a single thing except boredom.
