This is interesting. My first thought was that Ginger is analogous to J - finicky, but great fun once dialed in. Mary Ann reminds me of the P - straightforward solid foundation. Both have their place, neither is better than the other.

I love J necks, but the control plate bugs the crap outta me. IMHO a P looks cleaner due to it's lack of a giant reflective plate.

I prefer the P over the J, but I can see why others would choose the J for its thinner neck and tonal variety. I've always preferred the chunky feel of a P neck and the simple volume/tone design. Although I own a J, I have never quite found my comfort with its feel and tone like I have with the P.
