As always, before asking what is better, you must first tell us what better means in this case. Otherwise, the answers are meaningless.
That said...yes...but I still like Jazz Basses.
It’s like asking if wives are better than girlfriends. They each have their own unique qualities, which is why you should always have one of each.
Each to their own...
Both Precision and Jazz basses are great basses. Is one better than the other? Well, that’s all opinion really. I used to never be a fan of either types. For years I was a die hard Ibanez Soundgear fan. I still am a fan of those basses but in the last few years, I have come to appreciate both Precision and Jazz style basses. I now have a K B Guitars custom shop P bass with a second one starting production soon. I am also now selling almost all of my Ernie Ball Music Man basses to purchase a Sadowsky NYC 5 J style bass.
Haha kidding. Honest but somewhat unpopular answer? I far prefer everything (feel, neck, tonal possibilities) about a Jazz. Though I'll play around with the EQ on a Precision and play the hell out of it, grinning like a Cheshire cat the entire time. Baseball bat neck be damned!
First is better than second. The P bass came first, so....(duh!)
And awaaaaay we go...
Different strokes for different folks!
Instead of spamming overused memes, I will just say that there is no "better" in this case.
I would say apples and oranges, but this is more like lemons and limes...
That question again? Let' s ask the bird!
Bird says: No carrots, no poll!
yawn... it's not summer school holiday yet!
Apples and oranges..
In summary, the answer is yes and no and get off my lawn you stupid kids!
