I dislike D’Addario Chromes

I don't like Daddario Flat Chromes, and I haven't come across any other flats I actively dislike in the same way. I get why people like them, they have a cool tone, but I don't like how they feel.

I dislike old dirty, dead strings. I had some on my J that were probably 15 years old. I don’t play it much, but I finally couldn’t take it any more and I put a new set of DRs on. Much better now.

I've always disliked the sound of fresh roundwounds and strings are expensive in Brazil. I used to ask friends for whatever old set they had.

Now that I got some pyramid gold flatwounds I never want to go back to rounds again .

I tried RCocco strings some years back but gave up on them as they are far too abrasive when new and took ages to get smooth enough to enjoy them.

I dislike expensive strings. I'm lucky, my hands don't sweat, thus strings wear slowly, therefore I get away with running cheap Warwick Nickel Reds mostly, usually discard them at a point that's mid-life for most people. Also I avoid D'Addarios, they break on me more than any other brand.

LaBellas never worked for me for some reason, as well I didnt like the Ernie ball cobalts, lasted 2 weeks and I took them off and tossed them.

I've been trying out different strings since the beginning of the year and while I certainly like some better than others, I don't actually dislike any of them (except maybe for La Bella 0760M's .110 string, which I never managed to intonate properly). Are there strings you actually dislike?

D’Darrio Chromes, too right, too sticky

Same. I hate them. Also dislike every stainless steel round I've tried (but that's only been a few). I like a flexible string with good mid-range for my playing style and fretless tone. These days I'm really just using TI Flats and Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, and these serve me very well. I'll branch out and try a few new sets one of these days though, I'm sure.

Chromes really were terrible. I try to be nice about it because taste is subjective...but man I hated them. Tortured myself for about 3-4 days thinking they'd get better and....NOPE! Put em back on a few weeks later and tried em for another 3-4 days and....NOPE!

I also am a fan of the TI's flats and Super Brights for rounds. Seeing how we have a some common ground and you're looking to try a couple sets I'd highly recommend the Dunlop Flats if you haven't and I'm really digging the DR Pure Blues for a round on my P. Dunlop flats I find to be a slightly higher tension and more growl in the midrange where the TI's are pronounced there but much smoother in tone. Same as you I'm not a fan of stainless steel strings but The Pure Blues give you some of those qualities without the roughness and beat you over the head zing of stainless. May be worth a shot if you haven't already tried them. I just went through a pretty extensive test on both flats and rounds the last few weeks to occupy my time. Regardless....AVOID the CHORMES!!! Lol.

Hate the feel of Elixir's; didn't even play them to the point of them shedding. The feel was just so...Can't even find a word to describe my dislike. Also, EB Cobalts; broke two E's just putting them on. Not even tuned up to pitch.

I'll stick with my Slinky's...they do exactly what I need them to, and last forever.

I looked at the title without my glasses on and thought i read "Are there things you actually dislike".
I thought boy oh boy this will be interesting. After the first two posts about strings I put my glasses back on...OH...STRINGS.

Well, um, I don't like any flat wounds. That's for sure. I really like TI's, Roto Sounds and Richard Rocco round rounds. The rest I dislike. BUT, I haven't tried anything else in a long time. Suggestions?

Lol! I didn’t mention the brand in an earlier post, but I remarked that a certain brand felt like the strings felt like they were wearing pantyhose.

Dean Markley Blue Steels, horrible in every way. Bad tone, super high tension, and dull. Not a fan.
