Are you born "Emo" or do you become "Emo" ?

I don't even know what emo means anymore. First it was comedian Emo Phillips, then it was Sunny Day Real Estate, now it's mascara and girl-jeans? Metrosexual goths, is that what we're talking about now?

The only environmental factor involved in me liking The Early November was some crappy internet radio station. So I guess I was born that way?

Are you born "Emo" or do you become "Emo" ? I would be inclined to say the " Emoness" has a direct correlation to developmental enviornment and human coping adaptation.

I highly disagree, scientists have recently discovered an "emo gene", normally very recessive but for some odd reason, possibly climate changes in combination with with new chemical products being introduced to modern society, the numbers of these emos appear to be exponentially increasing at horrific rates. It is an epidemic the world may never recover from... :atoz:

Are you making this up? I have noticed many girls at my school turning emo very fast.:hmm:

I would have to reject your claim of climate change as an aggravating factor in the causation of the emo pandemic as climate change in conjunction with the current global warming speculation in popular thought is based in incunclusive theory.

I think the real question is "Are you born Elmo, or do you become Elmo?"

The evidence(Exhibit A and B) is building that it may be a birth defect, but some still insist that it is a self-inflicted condition.

Upper class suburbs are breeding grounds for Emo kids now. The pampered environment in which they grew up probably caused them to turn into Emo freaks.

It's only going to get worse folks, as the suburban emo kids get older, they will breed even more emo kids. Kind of like evolution. Uggg, it's unfortunite but that's life.

True. However no one can deny the direct correlation between the gradual increase in temperature of the planet and the number of pirates currently operating on the seas.

Ah, the good ol' Nature vs Nurture debate, but in emo form.

I'd say it has to do with the environment you were raised in and how you are socialized. Especially with how society has changed in the last couple of decades it seems that we are fostering the growth of emo kids, especially in upper-middle/upper classes.

I dunno man, it's a harsh life in upper middle class suburbia. No one understands me! I just have to cut to feel pain, because pain is the only thing that's real! And my parents hate me, just because I stole my sister's pants and mascara, why won't they just let me be who I am?! Everyone else is a bunch of conformist machines!

:D
