Unfortunately, the Fleishman needs a neck reset, truss rod is maxed out, that's why it's all apart - beyond my skill level, need to find competent someone to take it to.

I have a couple of"first line"basses and a couple of"second line".An acquaintance played one the"seconds",liked it but said"what are ppl gonna say when I show up w/ a _____ bass?" I said"If it sounds good, who gives a flyin' ratsass?"I admit to trying to substitute expensive basses for skill - doesn't work, but does help inspire me to practice more! So there!(And I really try not to be a gear snob, I enjoy showing off all my gear - the "special find" cheapies just as much as the $$pensive ones...)
I don't currently own any bases that are "normal brands". My old Aria viola bass gets the most looks, and my Frankensteined basses make people wonder. Lately though, I've been playing a '77 Ibanez Jazz copy. People barely glance at it, it's sort of a strange feeling for me after playing weird basses so long.
My pedalboard is still in the making, so it's never been out yet. And the amp is Peavey all the way, Mark IV.

I got peaved(pun intended)at Peavey for moving most their stuff o'seas after"Underground Boss".I know everyone's doing it but they made a BFD of made in America so it's my little protest. Their older stuff that I have is great. Built like a tank and only slightly heavier
All I can say is "Wow!". You have three instruments that I flat out lust after, the Guild Acoustic (the only acoustic bass guitar I've ever heard with a decent acoustic voice; big as a house), that Gold Tone banjo bass, and a Mando-Bass????? Really????? Is that new or did you find an antique? That is ultimately cool. About the only things I don't see in your collection are a resonator bass and a guitarron. How did you miss those? Gotta get busy, bud. My collection isn't bad, but it isn't in your league for high-end weirdness factor. I am impressed!

P.S. If I can find a resonator for it, that Applause is going to become my resonator bass. It's acoustic voice is ultra-wimpy. Anybody here got an 8", biscuit-bridge resonator, cover, and mounting ring sitting around? Sure could use one.
And if you think the Guild was loud, check out the Emerald Balor, easily beats anything else I've tried (and I've tried a lot).
Okay, it's a vintage mando-bass. I am officially jealous. Wicked cool indeed. I'll have to try the Emerald Balor someday. I am really on a quest to convert my Applause to a resonator. A local luthier where I get work done took a Japanese Epiphone dreadnought 6-string guitar body and converted it into a resonator bass. Grafted on the neck from a Japanese electric bass. It is awesome; fun to play and a big sound. If I can find the resonator parts, he'll put it together for me.

I've got two Applause AE-40s, and I have to say, I applaud your effort to turn one into something useful ('cause otherwise, they're junk imho - misplaced bridges ruined intonation on both).
I'm the bass player in town that has all the gear nobody recognizes...and I LOVE it!
I'm always amused when other bass players come up to me and ask me what I'm playing, and then the blank stare after I tell them AND let them check out my gear! Once I got to the point where I could afford the stuff I wanted, I pretty much stopped buying stuff from GC and SA. If it's not Fender, Ibanez, Shecter, or Ampeg, some of these guys and gals have no idea that there are other manufacturers making bass gear. I'm the guy who shows up with Kiesel, Valenti or Dingwall basses, an Arkham Sound or Basswitch preamp, and goes into a Barefaced or LDS cab. I may have some Cog Effects, Iron Ether, or FEA Labs on my board at any given time(My board is a LOT less boutique-y at this moment, but it was CRAZY boutique-y for a while and may be again soon...).
I'm not knocking guys who play Fender, Ampeg, and Boss, there's a reason that stuff is legendary, and it works in every musical situation, but I always get a chuckle from look on peoples faces when they hear "Kiesel Vader basses(soon to be back to Dingwalls)into a dual SansAmp wet/dry setup into Barefaced Big Twin II's. How often do people comment about specific songs / bass lines you played?
Most often it's"what was the name of that song?" My favorite ever was"I know that's not a guitar.What is it and what does it do?" I asked him where he was sitting and told him"watch me, I'll stop playing for a few seconds, then resume." For him it was a genuine"a-ha"moment.
Holy balls that's a lot of basses! Like that Zon was thinking about getting one, ended up with a $$Wick. Was disappointed at first, but now it's great, as I can easily (without adjusting anything) make it sound like a P-Bass with just my playing style. And that's just f'n cool to me.
1 thing I will tell any Wick owner or future owner.....1st thing to do when you get one is replace the tuners with Gotoh, etc., as they don't stay locked in tune and strip really easily. You'd figure that on a $3500 bass they'd give you quality, but nope. They put the same tuners on the $500 Rockbass versions. Cheap Chinese knockoffs! You'll be playing with new strings thinking why am I having to tune every 3 songs? Is there something wrong with these strings? Nope it's the cheap tuners they use. After that it's gravy though! I even favor their button straplocks better than Schaller IMO.
Yeah I'm totally that guy. I play Lakland and Warwick German $$, and Accugroove cabs (El Whappo and El Whappo Jr). I do have a Fender Superbassman head though. And my pedalboard is 1st a Line 6 wireless(pretty standard), then a Broughton HPF set at 30hz, into a Lehle Sunday Driver(adds just a hair of grit and it's a super clear buffer where most take off the top end off a little, this one doesn't at all and seems to add something to the sound), FEA Dual Band Compressor, Strymon Timeline with a Disaster Area 3 button midi controller, into a FEA PHoton 2 gated Octave fuzz, Chunk System Brown Dog gated fuzz, Malekko B:Assmaster, Carl Martin Delayla analog delay(mostly as an effect on ending songs or synthy stuff after distortion chain)Chunk Systems 007 Envelope filter for super heavy funk synthy sounds, 3 Leaf Audio Wonderlove Envelope filter for my normal wah sounds. Also have a Mission Engineering Bass Wah, but it's currently collecting dust as it's broken and Mission Engineering won't fix it so....anybody want a broken $200 paperweight? Hahahah
I dunno, maybe I just got lucky, but I haven't had trouble with a misplaced bridge. The intonation on mine is okay, especially after I had my luthier remove the undersaddle piezo and metal channel and carve an oversized bone saddle for the bridge. I think he carved some compensation into the saddle as well, though he never really mentioned it. My complaints with the AE-40 were:
1. A virtually useless piezo pickup. I never got anything like an even sound across the strings and just never liked the sound of it. Dealt with by removing it.
2. Not crazy about the round back. Keeps sliding off my lap. I can deal with it by always wearing a strap, but not my favorite feature.
3. An almost inaudible acoustic voice. This is the big one. I'm a singer and when I sit in my living room singing and playing bass (just me), I can't hear the bass in my lap! Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!
On the up side, I love the neck. I'm a short-scale (30") player and the AE-40 neck is that scale length. It is sweet and comfortable to play, really nice. So yeah, I would very much like to make a disappointing instrument into something useful and worthwhile.

P.S. If I can't find the resonator parts I need, maybe a banjo bass? Is your banjo bass loud? How on earth would I tension the head?

I was just checking out a site offering resonator parts - I'll post it if I find it again. The Gold Tone banjo bass is moderately loud acoustically, but the E isn't very good, I'm thinking it has to do with my converting it (a lefty) to a righty by flipping the bridge and nut and restringing. Mean to get a proper righty bridge for it. But where it really shines is plugged in - again, still not quite happy with the E, but it does a very good upright imitation plugged in.

might want to check out ebay and see if you can find a cheap used resonator to scavenge from? Probably cheaper than buying new parts piece by piece. For example: GREAT PLAYING NEW 6 STRING VINTAGE STYLE RESONATOR SUNBURST GUITAR | eBay
