Are your cab and amp the same brand?

Phil Jones Bass Cab 47 cabinet + Hartke TX 600
Old Big rig is same brand, Hartke 7000 head, Hartke115 xl + 410xl
New rig total weighs less than 7000 head alone!!
To contrast size:
Hartke 7000 in case on top pic , vs Hartke TX600 on bottom pic
Old rig is 30 yrs old....modern technology!!!! Good for old backs
And to those paying attention, yes, that is a copy of the Declaration of Independence in the background of the top pic... Look at it everyday!!

Over the years, most of my rigs have been matching. One notable exception is when I ran a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12.2 into a pair of AudioKinesis Thunderchild cabs.

The last few years I've been using matching Genzler amps and cabs and am very satisfied with the results!

I haven't had matching head and cabs for about a decade now.
Until last year, at church I would put my PB250 into whatever cab was lying around, Kustom and later Carvin. The last time I was gigging out with a big rig it was an 8x10 Carvin or 4x10 Avatar under a Peavey VB2.

Regardless, I mostly use combos now. I'm realizing that my preferred tone is nothing special, I no longer want to haul around a big rig and combos these days are so light and cheap.

Hey All!

New guy here, thought I would chime in. Originally, I played bass through a Fender Bandmaster Silver Face, then a Music Man HD130 with two 212RP cabinets. For what I was doing, it was plenty loud, Never went past "3" for channel volume, even in the loudest venues we played.
Times changed, Real Life got in the way, equipment was sold or sadly, stolen. I played for my enjoyment through a Fender Rumble 15, the black carpet covered one with the red light in the port. Recently, I found another Music Man HD130, a tube inverter version, paid maybe too much and bought what was probably the last Fender Rumble 115 cabinet in the Midwest. Still waiting on another 115 cab to finish the setup but it's plenty loud enough as it is.
So, the answer is, it's mismatched, even though Leo had a hand (sort of) in both pieces.

Only one of my rigs has a matching head and cabinet but it's my favorite.

The cabinet is too purty, too rare, and too heavy (85 pounds) to gig with so I just used the B2-R head with a Carvin 2 x 10" for the smaller gigs. A large rig with an Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp into a QSC PLX-1602 for the larger gigs.

The photo is from our rehearsal space back then, the only place I have ever used the cabinet.

Like I said too purty, too rare, and too heavy. I might have taken it out if you could just buy these cabinets everywhere but they were extremely rare, even when new.

p.s. Not quite sure why the graphic is set to flat, I never use this rig with the graphic flat like that.

Might have been after I brought it back from the shop from a minor repair.

Man, I think I have that same MM head...... Bought that '88 or '89, I think... Used that before I got my Hartke rig... Had a cab that came out of the Wooster.Centrum, part of the old PA, ( knew a sound guy)... man did that scream... Even though it was a guitar head, it worked for me...
I'm going to have to dig that out, see.if it still works...
How much is that worth now... Guess it would be considered vintage!!
I guess many not us are now considered vintage!

When I had the pair of the MM 212RP bass cabs, you didn't stand in front of it at anything approaching 5 on the channel volume on high power. I dimed it once, it was scary loud and the band mates all screamed at me to turn it down. Kinda like standing next to a F-4D Phantom II fighter jet running during a chained down to the ramp full burner test. A true audio-physical experience. I know they are only rated 130W RMS, 200W peak but they seem to be able to go toe to toe with higher rated solid state amps.

BTW, I gave a skosh over $1,000 USD shipped to my door and it really looks like new. That's why I mentioned I might have overpaid a bit for it. Some d00d probably bought it, didn't like lugging it around or it was too loud(?) for him. A closet queen, most likely. I also see many of these called "Vintage" in offerings on Reverb and eBay. I also see guitar versions (HD130 Reverb) called bass amps. Just waiting for another Rumble 115 cab to come my way, it honestly needs that extra speaker cone area to sound full and round.
