Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Two)

So I guess this one goes out to the Aria/Cliff Burton fans. I'm having a build done and the notion of cat's eye inlays struck me at 12:40 a.m. Does anyone have any info on options to incorporate these? Are you aware of a seller? Would it be easier to use some form of sticker with a lacquer covering? Thanks

I have a good friend with a laser cutter who specialised in inlays. He can cut you a board and an inlay set. Stickers look tacky, and you would need really thick lacquer layers over the top (plus lots of levelling) to make them look convincing.

Is your builder at the stage where he/she has the board yet?

Thanks Prostheta, we are sitting down to talk wood today. It sounds like this is developing into a specialist job. Do you have a recommendation state-side?

Certainly do. Pop over to parableguitars.com and contact Doug via the link there (don't want to publicly post an email address of course). Tell him I sent you.

This is his laser in action (old video):

I had Doug cut this 8-string board for me a few years back.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I have played an Aria IGB-65 for 8 years. Here's a pic (strings currently removed because I just broke one 10 minutes ago and they need replacing anyway :P ):

Absolutely love this bass since I played it in the store. Changing my strings reminded me of a problem I've always had with it that I figured you Aria experts might help me with.
My problem is with the bridge and started very soon after I bought it. After a few hours of playing, the saddles will "sink" down. That is to say, if I set them at a certain height, after a few hours of playing, they will get a lot lower and I get fret buzz. :hmm:

Here's a couple pics of the bridge:

In the second pic there, you can even see the the rightmost saddle is very uneven, and I'm pretty sure I set it a lot more even than that. I was wondering what you guys suggest I do about this? New saddles? New bridge? I was looking for official replacements and can't seem to find any. Any compatible replacements available?

Cheers guys, appreciate the help. :)

Alright. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on an SB-1000CB (not the easiest to find, I assure you). Any of you with the newer reissues feel free to chime in. How is the weight and neck compared to the vintage models? Also from what I could tell, the finish and overall QC seemed to be superb, but you folks know more than me.

hi fellas..just need your inputs with regards in upgrading my bass..

currently i own an aria igb-48 all stock...i noticed that my bridge pup has a less output than the single coil which is weird considering humbucks have more output...

with that being said i'm thinking upgrading the pickups with EMGs....i also plan of having my bridge upgraded as well...

your inputs will be highly appreciated...

Hey MOTOR. I really wish I could give you some personal feedback. I have never played any form of the RIs or the cheaper SB-CB either. I do have a good friend who has an SB-1000 "JT" edition. It's an RI made in Japan with a natural finish. The John Taylor model. From the semi-objective info I have gathered from him it definitely sounds like an SB-1000 yet at least his particular neck seems a bit thinner (front to back) than a vintage example.

Thanks Zuma. That helps me out quite a bit actually (considering that other than asthetics, the SB-1000RI, CB, and JT are exactly the same bass). I've played the cheaper SB-CB in Indianapolis and I wasn't the least bit impressed. It was a good bass, but it didn't have the workmanship or sound quality of any SB I've played and it certainly didn't warrant the $1,279.99 price tag.

I actually had my question partially answered by the customer service/tech from the company I am ordering from. He said that the neck is 1.57" at the nut and this particular bass weighs 10.58lbs. I've been spoiled on 7-8lb basses lately so I'm ordering one of these to help me adjust:[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
