Aria & Aria Pro II Club

I just joined the group, but it make take a while to get the bass working. I picked up an Aria Diamong (the predecessor of the Univox Hi-Flyer) on Ebay as a project bass. The wood is in good shape and I just found pickups for it - Eastwood sells parts via Ebay and they make a Hi-Flyer clone that has identical pickups.

I'm planning to paint it Gibson Gold Top....

Hey, Mea culpa, I'm just keeping up with the cars I have to keep running. But I do plan to order the paint supplies tomorrow. My daughter's Camaro swallowed $1200 last month and sidelined some other expenses......:bawl:

Help!

Any Avante owners please pm me if you are able to send me a pic of the electronics. The previous owners really did a job on this one and I am trying to figure out where the proper connections are supposed to be.

Thanks and bass wishes,
Mike

Does anyone k any details on this model. I'm really interested. Sorta looks custom but also looks passive.

It's an IGB, although I'm not sure of the model number but it's not a custom job. Some of them came like that. There's some info a few pages back. :)

After a gap of about 15 years, I rejoined last night

HAhahaha nice one Doc!
I was gonna pick that one up about a month ago. :ninja:
But it's almost identical in spec to my Elite II except it's older.
How does it play?

:)

Well, I had one of these for a short time. I can't remember the model name, but it is in the Integra "family". The thing that I remember most was that it was a plywood body! I didn't know that til I sold it, actually. The guy was kind of pissed so I gave him a refund. The sound and playablity were fine, but if you're a stickler for body woods, then you might want to pass. I find it very odd for a neck-though bass to be plywood. Usually you think "high end" with neck-through, but it seems they cut some corners on this model.

Also, the electronics were passive. There was vol / tone / pickup selector switch. I have seen quite a few of them around (in Japan). Black, white and see through red seem to be the colors available. The see through red might be solid body, but - at least from my experience - the white and probably black ones have plywood bodies.

Hey Joe ;)

It's fairly beaten up but at the price, I just couldn't resist. The frets need a bit of work, I've a few ideas for it, but overall it's sound. I'm thinking of replacing one of the stacked vol-tone knobs with a 2 band pre, it's got a pickup selector switch too, so it wouldn't be too missed. Definitely a bargain though, can't believe yer man sold it for 300 :D

Yeah, I got him down pretty low... I think 350 but I backed out last minute, second doubts. I had a feeling it might need fretwork. I'd rather buy a better condition SB if I was going to get another one. Not much space for one though... but I want an older SB-1000 at some point. :smug:

The switches on the bass are the "dual sound" switches, basically series/parrallel switches. :)
