Aria & Aria Pro II Club

It's a first HB or MB Aria bass on forum, a bought 30 day a go.
DiMarzio pickups is put the first owner (before me ). This bass is from 1977 .Do you know something about this series of Aria bass ???

I only have electras, but they were made in the same place by Matsumoku.

I really, really, want an SB1000.
The perfect bass, well, outside of a lime green Fender P/J bass with black pikcguard, racing stripes, and metal parts made from a 1969 Mustang Boss 302. :D

Plus, if I had the Black N' Gold, I could pretend I was Cliff Burton.

No, it refers to Cliff Burton... but they can't legally say it. :ninja:

I'm not sure I would compare it to any other bass. It's an SB shaped bass but doesn't sound or feel like one to me.
Go buy a used SB, not one of these.

The SB-1000CB feels and sounds much more like the original basses.

I went to my friend's house recently, and after talking to him for a while, I found out that one of his college buddies recently acquired an Aria Pro II that was custom made for and apparently owned by the one and only Rudy Sarzo. He is more of a guitar player though and is planning on selling the bass. I am going to contact him this week, and see if I can get ahold of it.

That would be cool! There's a good chance it has Alembic pickups since he usually had those installed in his Aria basses. Let us know!

Hi there,

I've been doing some searching here. I'd love to have an Aria similar to John Taylor. In my search I found that the current reissues have a different bridge. Are there any other notable differences between the reissue and the original?

I don't know if I should get a reissue or search for an original. I would just like to get the tone.

The JT signature is/was made in Japan... not Korea.

Hi narendra,

The SB-1000RI or SB-1000JT can do the SB tone very well (also the 1000CB). These are/were all made in Japan and are quality instruments. As you have noted, the bridge differs but is still a quality bridge made by Gotoh. The pickup is slightly different, but still sounds very good.

The only downside in these basses is the price!

So thats why you have to weigh up whether its worthwhile getting an original or getting a reissue. But the difference in sound between them is very small.
