Aria & Aria Pro II Club

Things are kind of slow around here so I'll post a pic of an old Aria Pro II Rickenbacker copy I recently got. I sold it soon after to my friend, but I took some pics. The bass sounds great, but the truss rod seems to be stuck. It needed a shim under the neck because the action was high and there was no way to adjust it (luckily it's a bolt on!), but it does have the Ric tone! As I said, it's a bolt on, three piece solid body (basswood?), single truss rod, it has the older style tuners and stereo output jack...

Memories! I had an Aria Pro II "Cardinal" bass guitar (single pickup, bolt-on neck - body was brown) way back in the day. It was my 2nd ever bass guitar. It was such a step up from the cheap dumpster-non-prize that was my 1st bass!

sadly - years later I gifted it to the younger sister of a friend who showed interest in bass playing. That interest lasted about two weeks and the friend blamed me for the resultant fallout.

I miss that bass. (thanks for the thread!)

Yes, it's an Integra, from around 1991-1993. The US model name would have been IGB-DLX, but in the Japanese market they were called IGB-600. I have a catalog with this model's info. It had a soft maple body with a 'carved top', maple 'deep insert' neck, active double coil pickups with bass, treble, vol, and balance controls. I love the sound and feel of mine...And yes, it was the same bass Billy Gould used around the Angel Dust period (just before he switched to Zon).

I have an Aria Pro II Medium-II...

Pretty rare, as I have only seen 3.

Two of them were "CAR" (more of a pink) and mine is white (now more of a cream colour). All from 1985.

I picked this up off of craigslist for 125. It included a tuner, a metronome, 2 straps, a cable, and a hardshell case.

My friend just recently bought a completely stripped SB-1000 from a garage sale for $25. The only thing left on the body is the truss rod and the front is painted with a cheaply done Eddie VanHalen frankenstrat style paintjob. He plans on refinishing it in black with gold hardware (gotoh tuners and badass II). I was wondering if anyone knew where you can get a replacement pickup and electronics (the rotary attack switch, pre-amp, etc). If there is no way to get one, what pickups would one suggest to use in its place?

Hi narendra,

The SB-1000RI or SB-1000JT can do the SB tone very well (also the 1000CB). These are/were all made in Japan and are quality instruments. As you have noted, the bridge differs but is still a quality bridge made by Gotoh. The pickup is slightly different, but still sounds very good.

The only downside in these basses is the price!

So thats why you have to weigh up whether its worthwhile getting an original or getting a reissue. But the difference in sound between them is very small.

Ultimately the reissue prices are too steep for me so hopefully I can find one in good condition at a good price (what everyone would want right?):)
